County of Gaston Social Worker I.A.T. - FA/IA in Gastonia, North Carolina

The duties listed below are not all of the duties that may be assigned but are those that are considered as essential for an employee to perform.

  • Provides in-home services by engaging the family through the Child and Family Team process, developing a case plan, and completing assessments, meeting mandated contact standards concerning home visits for seeing the children, the caretakers, and contacting collaterals, working collaboratively with community partners and professionals, as necessary, to meet the needs of the children and the family, as a whole.
  • Petitions the court for removal of children from the home if at risk of harm and provides information to the court on the circumstances of the child.
  • Provides services to children found to be abused, neglected or dependent.
  • Works with parents and community organizations to provide for the provision of services to reduce the risk of harm to children.

Minimum Qualifications

A. Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited school of social work and one year of social work experience

B. Master's Degree in counseling or human services field and two years of directly-relatedexperience

C.BSW from an accredited school of social workand completion of the Child Welfare Collaborative and one year of directly-related experience **(Child Welfare positions only)

D. BSW from an accredited school of social work and two years of social work or counselingexperience

E. Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university and four years of directly-relatedexperience
