We have an exciting opportunity within our US Medical Affairs Liver team for a Director, Medical Affairs Strategy for Primary Biliary Cholangitis. This role is based in Foster City, CA.

Director, US Medical Affairs (USMA)Liver - PBC

Reporting to the Senior Director US Medical Affairs (USMA) Liver - PBC, this director role will support the development of the USMA Strategic Plans in PBC. The key functions of this role will be to work cross-functionally with many different internal and external stakeholders to execute the Plan of Action for PBC.

Job Responsibilities

  • Regular communication with the Gilead Medical Scientist Liaison (MSL) team to remain current on issues in the field (gather insights) and to provide medical education, support, and direction.

  • Conducts advisory boards to collect feedback to guide and update USMA Strategic plans in PBC.

  • Provide medical and scientific input on Independent Medical Education, Grants, Investigator-Sponsored Research and Collaborative Research

  • Develop, update, and maintain Medical Affairs slide decks for proactive and reactive use.

  • Serve as an educational resource to both medical and commercial disease state and product training.

  • Attend appropriate conferences and strategically coordinate medical affairs activities, including presenting to external audiences.

  • Responsible for the development and execution of PBC related scientific projects.

Requirements:

  • Advanced medical/scientific degree (MD, PhD, Pharm D, NP/PA)

  • Experienced in at least one disease area related to HBV, HCV, or PBC

  • Five plus years of industry experience in Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, or Research including extensive knowledge of hepatology and challenges/barriers to patient care.

  • Ability to think strategically and translate that strategy into an actionable work plan.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal, relationship-building, negotiating, communication skills, and ability to use these in a Teamwork environment.

  • Excellent organizational skills to support project planning across multiple activities, anticipate and prioritize workload.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; demonstrated ability to identify and understand complex issues and problems and identify and query key findings from study data and publications.

  • Must be fully aware and compliant with regulatory and legal (Business Conduct) requirements for clinical trials and other Medical Affairs activities; thorough knowledge of FDA regulations, ICH guidelines and GCPs governing the conduct of clinical trials.

The salary range for this position is: $237,660.00 - $307,560.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
