Katmai Windows System Administrator and System Center Configuration Support in FORT SAM HOUSTON, Texas
SUMMARY
Provide technical support to United States Army Institute of Surgical Research (USAISR), Joint Base San Antonio, Fort Sam Houston, TX for the Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager console and images and updates for Windows Servers and desktops. Responsible for providing day-to-day operational and software support for all SQL Server systems and databases.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for providing day-to-day operational support and maintenance for the Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager console images and updates for Windows Servers and desktops.
Responsible for providing day-to-day operational and software support for all Microsoft SQL Server systems and databases.
Maintain Windows server and desktop configurations in compliance with established best practices.
Provide for all functions associated with the implementation, operation, and maintenance of development, user acceptance testing and production environments using multiple Windows server products.
Provide day-to-day administration of all development and experimental environments, monitoring, problem resolution, on-call support, and hands on involvement in supporting multiple Windows server products.
Perform administration and maintenance functions in support of production, and development environments.
Ensure server availability by providing server administration including performance monitoring, tuning, back up, and recovery on all servers.
Maintain Windows servers and support systems for log monitoring, backup, and performance monitoring.
Maintain backup and recovery plan on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
Manage user’s accounts and permissions for all servers, enterprise e-mail, and other systems access.
Update software/hardware and apply security patches.
Perform physical configuration, maintenance, repair and / or upgrade of desktop computer and peripheral
hardware, firmware and specialty software configurations.
Ensure all pertinent software patches and fixes are implemented on desktop systems and peripherals at time of release to end user.
Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A favorable adjudicated Tier 1 Investigation (T1) coordinated with the Fort Sam Houston, TX Security Office via the COR is required.
Baseline certification as stipulated in DoD 8570.01 M IAT Level II (Security + CE or equivalent).
Baseline certification as stipulated IAT Level III DoD 8570.01-M Computing Environment Certified (Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate).
Must be experienced in the following technical areas: Window Server Operating Systems, computer systems analysis, computer information systems or management information systems, Microsoft Office products, internet and browser usage, email products (Microsoft Outlook preferred), basic operating system/networking/hardware troubleshooting and Microsoft SCCM 2012, McAfee antivirus, active directory management, virtual private network application and a wide variety of commercial off the shelf (COTS) and Government of the Shelf (GOTS) software
Must obtain and maintain any necessary security access and/or background checks (U.S. citizenship required).
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
Must have strong communications skills and be able to communicate technical issues effectively.
Three (3) years of experience as a Windows System Administrator in multi-server environments customer service experience, or equivalent training and experience preferred.

Full-time. May be required to work additional hours as needed to complete assignment or project.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed primarily indoors at a well-lit office or server room environment. The environment is normally air conditioned, but conditions may change depending upon circumstances. Work may need to be performed in a fast-paced environment requiring quick thinking and rapid judgments. The employee will be exposed to a wide variety of clients in differing functions, personalities, and abilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Position consists of sitting for long periods of time, using hands/ fingers, handling, reaching with hands and arms, speaking, or translating. Periods of walking, standing, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and lifting equipment weighing up to 30 pounds. Moderate to extended periods of office work with heavy periods of computer usage. May be assigned occasional to moderate periods of analytical tasks requiring extensive reasoning abilities.
