POSITION SUMMARY:

As part of the IT Engineering Systems team, you will join an accomplished group supporting all administration of CAD/CAE software (preferably experience with SolidWorks/SolidWorks PDM/Altium, etc.) and related applications for global users. The position will be responsible for implementing and improving the software across all Engineering departments. You will administrate and customize the CAD/CAE tools, and create software configurations, standard operating procedures, workflow processes, and best practices. You will consult with the Engineering team to determine and address their needs and opportunities and deliver functionality that aligns with business initiatives. The candidate should have a solid technical background in CAD/CAE system management and support. The role requires a customer-centric individual who can work in a fast-paced environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administrate end-user support of multi-CAD/CAE and product data management environment for configurations, user management, software upgrades, environments, licenses, data migration and translation.

  • Develop, maintain, and customize the global SolidWorks PDM environment, including replication, workflow, data card and add-ins.

  • Interact and support integrations and data sharing amongst multiple engineering disciplines and departments.

  • Liaison with engineering teams to determine and address their needs, opportunities, and recommendations.

  • Strong understanding of product data management, CAD, and engineering processes, such as PCBA, DFM, BOM and change management.

  • Engage and manage 3rd parties to assess partnerships and work with engineering stakeholders on vendor or software selection, support, and implementation.

  • Prioritize and handle service requests and incidents submitted through the internal support ticket system.

  • Create and maintain technical documentation for the CAD/CAE tools, including installations, upgrades, and troubleshooting.

  • Work with management on software budget forecasting, Statement of Work & contract reviews, licensing agreements and maintenance.

  • Develop, facilitate, implement, and monitor tools standard and procedures to meet customer needs.

  • Automate processes whether standardized through workflows, templates, and other means.

  • Ability to train and mentor end users. Must be able to document and communicate training materials and work instructions. Provide training for new versions of software or specific topics.

  • Participate in or lead project development and other ad-hoc assignments.

  • Resolve system problems or perform scheduled maintenance and changes during non-business hours as needed.

  • Managing time effectively while dealing with a variety of issues in a dynamic environment will be key to the success of this individual.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  • Fort Collins, Colorado

  • Standard office environment; some travel may be necessary

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior Senior or Lead Engineer equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making.

  • Ability to work independently, and as part of a collaborative team.

  • Ability to multi-task and reprioritize work, as required, to meet dynamic environment.

  • Excellent Customer service skills at all levels.

  • Highly organized and detail oriented.

  • Strong knowledge of project skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and large-scale collaborative projects at any given time.

  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong creative thinking skills - looking at alternatives and considering new ways of thinking to solve problems.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with teams across the entire organization.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and technical writing skills for documentation and customer support duties and must also be comfortable communicating complex concepts to others with diverse seniority and technical competence.

  • Solid communication and teamwork skills with remote teams will be required to work effectively.

  • Exhibit sound judgment, initiative, and self-motivation and be able to complete tasks with minimal supervision.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 5 years of CAD/CAE administration experience, with 8 years of overall CAD design experience, in electronics design and manufacturing sector.

  • Experience in Altium Designer, SolidWorks, SolidWorks PDM, Ansys, NI LabVIEW & TestStand, MATLAB, etc.

  • Experience in migrating and implementing new CAD/CAE and PDM software.

  • Working knowledge of CAD/CAE license management.

  • Working knowledge of CAD/CAE software administration and installation.

  • Familiar with Product Lifecycle Development Processes and configuration control (revisions, release level, approvals).

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C#, VB.NET, SQL is preferred.

  • Proven experience in API development using the SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM Professional APIs, is nice to have.

  • Experience with relational database systems (MS SQL Server) is preferred.

  • SolidWorks PDM Professional certification is a plus.

  • Experience with Cadence Allegro, PTC Creo, Windchill PDMLink is a plus.

  • Experience with application support such as Atlassian Suite (Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence), SourceGear, Subversion is nice to have.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree holder or above in Information Technology, Computer / Electronics / Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

COMPENSATION:

As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. The range of starting pay for this role is $100,000 to $130,000 per year.
