Description of Work Unit
The Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition has 32 faculty and adjunct members and 23 research associates and administrative staff, 600 undergraduate students and offers undergraduate degrees in Nutrition and Food Science, Hospitality Management and Fermentation Science and Technology. The department offers an accredited B.S. dietetics program and an M.S. coordinated dietetic internship program. With the overall growth in the department, faculty and student diversity has increased. Position Summary
The Camp Instructor is responsible for leading and implementing four one-week camps of 20 campers ages 8-12. The instructor is responsible for the general safety, development, and achievement of their campers. They will provide high quality cooking lessons and outdoor recreational experiences for participants. Position Minimum Qualifications
● Experience with youth ages 8-12
● Ability to lead, organize, and implement program activities
● Ability to accomplish tasks with little direct supervision
● Strong organizational and communication skills
● Strong classroom management skills
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
If a student must be: Junior, Senior, Masters, or PhD level

Duty/Responsibility
● Implement the weekly schedule for your camp group.
● Organize and lead a variety of small and large group activities each week. Activities may include cooking prep and techniques, menu planning, knife skills, food safety, and sanitation.
● Identify and respond to camper behavior issues.
● Ensure that the kitchen and classrooms are kept clean and organized.
● Communicate with Camp Leadership about any camper concerns.
● Assist in maintaining accurate program records including incident reports and daily attendance.
● Know and understand ALL emergency procedures associated with the camp program.
● Know, enforce, and follow all safety guidelines associated with the camp and all program areas.
- Upon hire, completion of First Aid certification or current documentation (paid for by the department)
