Neset Land Surveys Survey Technician in Fargo, North Dakota

Neset Land Surveys in Fargo ND has an opening for a Land Survey Technician with a $5,000 sign-on bonus *. The Survey Technician will primarily work under and report to a Survey Crew Chief and perform typical surveys in the field including topographic surveys, construction layout, ALTA and boundary surveys

Skills necessary for the position are as follows:

Trimble GPS and Robotic survey equipment A 2-year Associates Degree in Engineering Technology or Land Surveying is highly desirable (applicable experience may be acceptable in lieu of an associate degree). 2 or more years of topographic and highway/roadway construction staking experience preferred. Capable or familiar with operating GPS, robotic and total station survey equipment. Familiar with survey data collection and construction survey methods. Experience with CAD programs such as AutoCAD/Civil-3D software Perform simple surveying calculations using engineering calculator, laptop computer, and coordinate geometry software. Knowledge of Microsoft Windows/Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) required. Must be willing to interact with people and work in team environments. Must be Willing to accept that minimal overnight travel may be required Must be detail orientated, self-motivated with strong interpersonal and organizational skills. A valid drivers license is required

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit and operate a computer under normal ergonomic office conditions.
  • Required to work in an outdoors environment including construction sites and close proximity to traffic, noise and dust.
  • Will require prolonged periods of standing and walking to perform some of the typical tasks and duties associated with topographic and construction surveying.
  • May be required to clear vegetation, dig holes, occasionally shovel snow and pound stakes with hand tools.
  • Ability to lift equipment or objects weighing 50 to 75 pounds.

It is preferred that the applicant have at least 2 years of active field survey time and have a degree or certificate in a related field. Applicants with less experience may apply as there are multiple positions open. This position is full-time with a benefits package including Health Insurance, PTO, and a performance bonus program up to 25% of base pay. Wage depending on experience.
