ADTEK Engineers Structural Team Leader - Specialty Engineering (206) in Fairfax, Virginia

ADTEK Engineers is a leader in cold-formed steel design and we are looking for a Team Leader for our Fairfax, VA location. The Team Leader is responsible for the entire project cycle to include design, development, and project completion. The Team Leader will provide supervision to a team of project managers, engineers and CAD Designers and Technicians.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Prepare engineering analysis of projects to include: complete design and calculation

  2. Conduct surveys to gather field data as necessary

  3. Prepare field reports

  4. Prepare and interpret blueprints, schematic drawings, layouts and other visual aids

  5. Manage construction document printing process

  6. Manage proposal process from initial bid to completion of project

  7. Study contracts and scope of work for own projects

  8. Deliver projects within established time periods

  9. Resolve all problems: project and non-project

  10. Review and approve proposed changes to engineering standards, policies, or details

  11. Review development plans for compliance with adopted engineering standards and good engineering practices

  12. Coordinate the activities of your junior staff

  13. QC projects by junior members of your team

  14. Enforce methods on projects you manage

  15. Manage production staff working on your projects to effectively achieve project goals

  16. Ensure project remains within budget and each phase is completed on-time

  17. Lead kick-off meetings with assigned staff members

  18. Review project progress reports and provide financial assessment of all projects in team

  19. Select appropriate standard details for projects

  20. Markup standard details for projects

  21. Create custom details for projects as required

  22. Layout, and Redline overall drawing sets for complex projects

  23. Ensure that quality control procedures are maintained within your team

  24. Develop repeat work with existing clients

  25. Develop new clients

  26. Negotiate fees directly with clients

  27. Respond to comments by clients or outside reviewing entity

  28. Oversee multiple projects and clients simultaneously

  29. Initiate contact for additional service work on your projects

  30. Coordinate with other disciplines as needed

  31. Create new standard details

  32. Manage and oversee monthly billings and coordinate with corporate accounting staff

  33. Manage HR issues for team members

  34. Assist in collections issues

  35. Coordinate with corporate marketing staff

  36. Other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Conduct annual reviews for your individual team members

  2. Request and defend the need for additional staff members

  3. Be responsible for hiring and firing of team members

  4. Maintain team's project schedule and billing goals

  5. Coordinate in-house completion schedule with clients' expected schedule

  6. Handle financial management for team; maintain team profitability

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • 8 years overall structural design experience is required; 5 must be in cold-form steel

  • 4 years project management experience required

  • 4 years staff management required

  • The experience above may be concurrent. A U.S. PE license is required.

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field from an accredited college or university is required
