CGI Federal has an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Data Engineer. In this position you will work with, solution architecture, solution engineering and Portal/Dashboard teams in developing data visualizations and supporting data analytics.

You will work closely with the Cloud Architecture and Operations teams to support the client’s mission, priorities, and unique challenges. You will also support the implementation of cyber security COTS offerings focusing on next generation security solutions and technologies.

This position is located in our Fairfax, VA office; however a hybrid working model is acceptable. You will be required to be in our Fairfax, VA office two days per week.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

• Define, design and implement required data queries for specific data visualizations .

• Develop and maintain required data queries in support of required APIs.

• Participate actively in data analytics requirements workshops and stakeholders meetings in understanding the data visualizations and data interface requirements.

• Define and/or analyze data interface and data quality requirements.

• Develop logic and scripts for data extraction, transformation and load (ETL) process.

• Participate actively in Data governance workshops and engagement sessions with stakeholders, technology/product vendors in gathering data and the related API requirements.

• Work with emerging and innovative technologies to develop solutions supporting innovation efforts around data analysis, process improvement, machine learning and other software and systems that support the client’s mission.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• Due to the nature of the contract requirements, US citizenship and successful passing of CGI background check is required prior to beginning work. In addition, candidates must have ability to obtain and maintain a DHS EOD/Public Trust clearance.

• 5+ years of experience in data analytics, implementing data pipelines in the context of ETL processes.

• Experience in defining and implementing the required underlying data queries supporting specific data visualizations.

• Ability to debug/troubleshoot data pipeline related issues.

• Experience in writing SQL queries, Python scripts for data extraction and transformation.

• A thorough understanding of JSON/XML formats.

• Experience in APIs and writing data queries using APIs.

• Knowledge of defining physical and logical data models.

Desired qualifications

• Knowledge in Cybersecurity domain and related data models.

• Experience in developing visualizations in Elastic Kibana.

• Experience in AWS Glue, AWS Athena and AWS QuickSight.

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $85,800 - $165,200.
