Position Summary

Provide support to the Equipment Division and Evansville Shop as it pertains to safety, inspections, maintenance, and repairs for equipment utilized within heavy civil, marine, and underground projects. Provide support to the Evansville Shop for special projects as needed.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Follow all company safety policies and guidelines

  • Assist with Safety needs of the Division (Manuals, Programs, Meetings, etc.)

  • Assist with LEAN, Continuous Improvement and Innovative Idea initiatives

  • Assist with Maintenance Programs to ensure data is maintained and accurate

  • Work closely with telematics and oil sampling providers to obtain consistent and reliable data

  • Work closely with Equipment Superintendents as well as Job Project Management to ensure open communication exist to help solve issues or needs as they arise regarding equipment.

  • Assist with training of field personnel concerning safety / Quality / Maintenance programs

  • Assist with manufacturer safety/service bulletins

  • Conduct visual equipment inspections inbound and outbound as needed for heavy construction equipment

  • Manage and/or assist with special projects as they arise within the Equipment Division. Tasks may include being a team leader for major rebuild and/or rental projects, revision of Equipment Manuals, computer software to improve efficiencies (work order systems, time card systems, etc.), safety initiatives, etc.

  • Develop relationships that help grow the Division

  • Assist in developing work plans with Activity Hazard Analysis reports for the Evansville Shop and Yard

  • Assume additional responsibilities as directed by division and corporate management. Travel as required to attend, but not limited to, meetings, site visits, training, etc .

    Skills and Abilities

  • Reliable, Punctual & Attention to detail in work.

  • Basic knowledge of heavy equipment, including hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems.

  • Basic hand on skills to perform basic operational test on equipment

  • Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems

  • Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking and writing so others will understand

  • Identify the proper tools and equipment needed

  • Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences

  • Demonstrate the ability and behavior necessary to lead others in accomplishing individual and team goals

  • Ability to work well in a non-structured environment

  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Auto CAD is a plus

    Training is required and will be provided

  • NCCO – written test only

  • OSHA – 30-hour course

  • First Aid Training – CPR course

  • Basic Rigging Training

    Education/Experience

  • High School education with minimum of 2-years heavy construction equipment experience is required.

  • A 2 or 4-year degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field of study is a plus but not required.
