Department Summary

The Department of Mathematics is a diverse and growing department with strengths in Algebraic Geometry, Analysis, Combinatorics, Differential Geometry, Mathematical Biology, Number Theory, Representation Theory, Topology, and Probability. The department has a thriving Ph.D. program with approximately 65 graduate students, 33 tenured and tenure-track faculty, 8 postdocs, and 14 lecturers.

Position Summary

These positions will be partially funded by the NSF grant “RTG: Combinatorics, Geometry, Representation Theory, and Topology” at the University of Oregon, and are contingent on the availability of funds. Applicants should be in research areas connected to one of these four fields and should have an interest in mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. For the purpose of acquiring additional professional skills needed to pursue a career path in the chosen field, this position will have a formal mentor plan.

Minimum Requirements

• PhD in mathematics, statistics, or closely related field

• Outstanding record of research potential in an area of interest to the department

• Evidence of teaching ability
