Department Summary

​​The Division of Student Life supports the university’s academic mission through comprehensive programs and services that promote and advance student learning and success while fostering an inclusive and vibrant campus community. Student Life houses four departments, the University Career Center, Office of the Dean of Students, Erb Memorial Union, and the Department of Physical Education & Recreation, as well as a number of key university programs, including the Holden Center for Leadership and Community Engagement, Parent and Family Programs, Major Student Events (Commencement, Homecoming, University Day), Student Government Engagement & Success, Student Conduct and Community Standards, and Support for Students in Crisis and Students of Concern. 

​The University Career Center serves as the gateway to career services at the University of Oregon, to ensure UO graduates are not only prepared for their first job, but for a lifetime of career success. In conjunction with advising and career services partners across campus, the University Career Center assists UO students in developing long-term career readiness, facilitating self-exploration and discovery, and connecting with potential employers. The Center also provides comprehensive job search services and resources to UO students and alumni.

Position Summary

As the Career Readiness Technology Manager (CRTM), your main role is to help the University Career Center and our campus partners utilize career readiness technology (such as Handshake, LinkedIn Learning and Big Interview) effectively. You'll lead the team in using and optimizing the use of career readiness technology tools that align with UO career readiness and student success goals. You'll also provide customer service, training, and support to users.

This role includes working with technology vendors to implement product features and suggest improvements. You'll also encourage other parts of campus, such as schools, colleges and departments to implement and use these tools, while ensuring the platforms fit their needs.

In addition to providing high quality training and support to system users, the CRTM takes an integral role in data collection and assessment processes for the department.

This position supervises 1-2 student employees.

Minimum Requirements

​​• Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience

​• Two years of related experience, which includes one or more of the following:

​ - Driving or implementing technology adoption/use;

​ - Providing customer service to technology users;

​ - Training people to use a technology system;

​ - Liaising with technology vendors;

​ - Managing a technology-related project

Professional Competencies

​​• Strong technology competency and ability to utilize to its fullest potential; fast learner with new systems and platforms

​• Ability to translate complex or technical information to users in a clear, concise, easy-to-understand way

​• Effective communication and presentation skills with comfort presenting to learning audiences

​• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with a strategic mindset

​• Ability to extract, analyze, and compile data; comfort summarizing and interpreting data and reports

​• Demonstrated experience with and/or commitment to working effectively with students, parents, faculty , and staff from diverse backgrounds, in support of an inclusive and welcoming environment

Preferred Qualifications

•​​ Experience using or implementing career services platforms, such as Handshake, or comparable career management systems or other proprietary software

​• Work experience in higher education or a large, complex organization​
