As the Sr Director of Network Control Group (NCG) , you will lead a highly trained team of Certified International Managers and professionals in the Network Control Group who are ultimately responsible for directing and managing DHL air and road networks, optimizing available network capacity, directing contingency operations in conjunction with air carriers, linehaul providers, hubs, gateways, and field locations for DHL Operations throughout the Americas. The Network Control Group is designed to connect our customer shipments on time and operates within a 24/7 environment. This is measured through our key performance indicators around safety, engagement, service, quality and efficiency.

CVG is home to one of the 3 Global Hubs, and is integral to the Americas Network as well as connecting the Globe with our dedicated Intercontinental fleet. The leader in this role will be responsible for developing business plans for our people, the Network, our customers and our airline partners.

Key Accountabilities

Strategic Vision:

  • Supports future thinking around the health, safety and well-being of DHL team members.

  • Ensure that NCG delivers expectations to maximize service performance, increase network utilization, and manage on time departures for AM Region.

  • Responsible for all North America and LATAM air movements; partners with Global Network Control colleagues to improve service for Intercontinental Air movements.

  • Timely communication of service improvements, network disruptions, network utilization, and operations changes to the Network and Regional Office.

  • Provides strategic direction to the development of Americas Air Network, ensuring that global and regional business objectives are met.

  • Lead regular cross-functional business reviews and formulate programs that support the agreed upon strategies.

  • Embraces innovation and digitalization, and utilizes data analytics to enhance service, cost position and productivity.

External Relationship Management:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders within DHL at local, regional, and global levels.Manage conflicting priorities while ensuring optimal customer solutions.

  • Maintains and develop senior level relationships with airline partners, 3 rd party handlers and airport authorities.

  • Maintain good relationship with regulatory bodies (CBP, FAA, etc) and be able to exert influence on issues with a view to represent the interest of DHL.

  • Negotiate, set up, control, monitor and review local purchased trucking contacts with fiduciary responsibility.

Leading as a Successful 21st Century Manager:

  • Leads NCG team to achieve Excellence in Aviation.

  • Employs critical thinking and solution-driven mindset to operate in a time sensitive environment.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 15 years in the industry with at least 5 years of senior level management roles in various operational business units, preferably distribution and airline experience.

  • Degree in Logistics or Transport (or equivalent).

  • Direct Management of large team of Professionals and Non Exempt Employee Base.

  • Ability to work a variety of shifts within a 24 hour operation.

  • Ability to speak English fluently, fluency in Spanish is a plus but not required. Location: Cincinnati, Ohio Travel up to 25% of the time Reporting Structure and Key Relationships Directly reports to: VP of Network Management
