ADP Medical Assistant/Receptionist in Elk Grove Village, Illinois

ADP is hiring a Medical Assistant/Receptionist. In this position you will assist the physician/nurse practitioner/nursing staff in the Health & Wellness Center with the examination or treatment of patients and handle front desk receptionist responsibilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist medical staff in the routine examination and treatment of patients to include the following:

  • Obtaining and recording data; entering information into the patient's medical record.

  • Venipuncture, prepare lab specimens and paperwork for outside lab vendor.

  • Perform required testing for Periodic Examination Part 1 (EKG, venipuncture, urine dipstick, vision screening, body fat analysis, audiometry, pulmonary function and other testing as requested).

  • Performs such duties as taking vital signs, EKG's and assists provider during examinations as needed.

  • Administers flu vaccine and other injections as directed/ordered by Physician/NP

  • Perform blood pressure screenings at the onsite medical department or off-site as assigned.

  • Acts as medical chaperone when requested.

  • Maintain logs as required such as checks of sterilization equipment and refrigerator temperature.

  • Keep rooms neat, organized and stocked with adequate supplies.

  • Maintenance of medical supplies as per policy.

  • In the case of a medical emergency where no other HWC staff member is present follow the one rescuer/BLS protocol, and activate the first responder process.

  • Other duties as assigned.

FRONT OFFICE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The medical assistant is responsible for performing the following duties:

  • Greets employees and other visitors in a courteous and helpful manner

  • Ensures that only authorized individuals have access to the department

  • Answers the telephone, schedules appointments for the physicians, nurse practitioner, nurses and any other professionals who may provide services at the Medical Department.

  • Prepares and sends forms to associates for special programs (e.g. periodic examinations, screenings, flu immunizations).

  • Responds in a timely manner to inquiries and emergency calls with prompt referral to medical staff.

  • Coordinates the daily schedules of clinical staff, meetings and other activities.

  • Creates, registers and maintains medical records for associates. .

  • Copies medical records (upon associate's request) with appropriate consent/authorization form as per policy.

  • Ensure that information and patient educational materials in the waiting room are organized and current.

  • Where applicable, maintain the location's Sharepoint staff calendar.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain confidentiality of medical information and patient records

  • Maintain all work areas in clean and orderly condition.

  • Wash and sterilize a variety of medical supplies, instruments and equipment.

  • Order medical supplies .

  • Perform Ergonomic evaluations if requested and document the findings as per office policy.

  • Assists with implementation of health promotion activities.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant or LPN program.

  • Certification as a Medical Assistant or LPN by an appropriate organization.

  • Three or more years of medical assistant or LPN experience preferred.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference will be given to candidates who have the following:

  • Experience in ambulatory care a plus.

  • Experience in a corporate environment a plus.

  • Must have good verbal and written skills.

  • Basic computer skills required.

  • Ability to use discretion in handling confidential Information.

  • CPR/AED certification required (or willing to obtain CPR/AED certification within 6 wks of hire).
