Schedule: Full-Time Nights, 32 hours/week

Shift :

  • $5000 Sign on Bonus

  • Night starts at 7pm or 11pm till 7:30 am (will receive night shift differential)

  • Work every other weekend and holiday

The role you’ll contribute:

Work under the direct supervision of an R.N., the C.N.A. is responsible for administering quality routine nursing care in Med/Surg, Recover Room and Emergency Room and other areas deemed appropriate by the Charge Nurse, R.N. and or Director of Nursing to provide quality patient care for those we serve.

The value you’ll bring to the team:

  1. Assist in direct patient care of an assigned group of patients.

  2. Take and record vital signs in the EMR as directed, including temperatures, respiration’s pulse, blood pressure, SAO2, and I & O.

  3. Assist the patient with general physical hygiene measures such as bathing, mouth care, dietary intake, and elimination.

  4. Assist patients with meals as indicated including passing trays.

  5. Provide patients with fresh water at least two times per shift.

  6. Assist with ambulation, transfers, and repositioning.

  7. Change bed linens as needed.

  8. Carries out special orders, after proper training, including ROME, enemas, application of abdominal binders, ace wraps, and ted hose, collection of specimens, and RT equipment setup.

  9. Provides for patient comfort, mentally, spiritually, and physically.

  10. Assists with pre-op and post-op care of patients as directed.

  11. Assists in post-mortem care of the patient and comfort to the family.

  12. Functions as an active member of the health care team.

  13. Observes patient condition for signs and symptoms which may indicate a change in patient status and reports pertinent observations to charge RN.

  14. Assist with admission, discharge, and transfer of patients as needed.

  15. Records on patient record all pertinent information using EMR.

  16. Answers call lights promptly and courteously.

  17. Assists other staff members in completion of their duties as time and assignments allow.

  18. Responds to all code blue and emergency situations, as directed.

  19. Assists in orientation of new employees as directed.

  20. Performs general unit duties independently.

  21. Knowledge of supplies and locations so able to obtain them efficiently as needed. Order supplies as necessary.

  22. Assists in general ward clerk duties including maintaining charts and general clerical duties as assigned. Refer to unit clerk checklist.

  23. Answers and documents ambulance calls when RN and/or LPN are predisposed.

  24. Uses present paging system effectively.

  25. Assists in providing for patient safety.

  26. Insures nurse call bell is within patient reach at all times.

  27. Assist in keeping the patient unit neat and free of obstructions.

  28. Transfers patients using proper body mechanics and adequate assistance.

  29. Knows and observes hospital and departmental safety, fire, and disaster policies and procedures.

  30. Maintains current CPR certification.

  31. Reports and documents incidents involving patients, staff, and visitors.

  32. Reports breakage of equipment immediately.

  33. Is aware of and promotes the Fall Prevention Program.

  34. Demonstrates a professional attitude.

  35. Dresses neatly and in accordance with present dress code.

  36. Utilizes appropriate chain of command.

  37. Respects patient privacy at all times.

  38. Maintains strict confidentiality of all patient and hospital related information.

  39. Respects and supports co-workers.

  40. Conducts self in a professional manner. Swearing, gossiping, loud conversations, etc., are not tolerated.

  41. Performs daily assignments utilizing the AHS SHARE principles.

  42. Participates in inservices and meetings to improve current skill and knowledge.

  43. Attends staff meetings and inservices (at least half of them in past year).

  44. Demonstrates willingness to learn new procedures.

  45. Provides suggestions in problem areas.

  46. Participates in Quality Improvement teams/projects when asked.

  47. Uses available on-line lessons for education.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • At least 18 years of age

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

  • Valid State of Wisconsin Certified Nursing Assistant certificate

  • BCLS obtained through the American Heart Association (within 1 year of employment)
