SMX is seeking for an experienced Technical Writer SME to support technical proposal research efforts on behalf of a government client in Doral, FL.as a SMX Technical Writer SME you will support the SOUTHCOM J31 Science and Technology team as it relates to the research, analysis, systems design, development engineering, test evaluation, and future deployment of experimental and innovative technologies in the SOUTHCOM AOR. Specifically the SME writer will lead research and proposal efforts as directed by the government customer.

This position requires a DoD TS/SCI clearance which requires US citizenship for work on DoD contracts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Identifies R&D funding opportunities and creates proposals

• Curates leads and relationships for Joint and Combined execution

• Defends proposals during down-selection at review boards

• Supports the identification and fulfillment of the Command's technical requirements

• Responsible for intra-agency coordination between stakeholders, DoD R&D working groups, and Federally Funded R&D Centers (FFRDC)

• Supports the development of technical proposals and assists in the assessment of candidate technologies to address capability gaps

• Travel: estimate travel 25%

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree

• Clearance: require TS/SCI

• Experience Identifying and R&D funding opportunities

• Experience defending proposals to review boards

• Excellent research and communication skills

• Ability to travel 25%

Desired Skills & Experience

• Experience with government or military technology acquisition processes

• Project proposal development experience

• Demonstrated ability to maintain positive relationships with fund providers and stakeholders

• Experience with or ability to create and maintain records and submit reports related to grant opportunities
