The Individual Income Tax, Customer Contact Section has an opening for an individual that can assist our community with income tax questions. There are many functions to be performed in this position, some of which include but not limited to: tax processing and/or billing issues; reviewing and processing correspondence; and working with databases and software systems such as GENESYS, MARCS, CRM, and BRIDGE.

Four years of experience responding to customer inquiries and resolving problems, including two years equivalent to a Treasury Customer Service Representative 7 or one year equivalent to a Treasury Customer Service Representative E8.

This position is eligible for remote work up to five days per week. The selected candidate must have a safe and appropriate designated workspace or workstation for performance of work. A secure and sufficient internet access of commercial cable or wireless broadband with minimum speeds of 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload is required. Please note that occasional onsite work will be required.

Work must be performed in the State of Michigan. If you currently reside outside of Michigan, you must relocate to Michigan to perform the duties of this position. Relocation expenses are not reimbursed.

The Michigan Department of Treasury participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S.

Interviews will likely occur virtually using Microsoft Teams. No prior experience with Teams is necessary, as instructions and tips will be provided to all candidates scheduled for an interview.

This position has a FTINPRINT sub-class code. The sub-class code indicates the position has access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and requires passing of a fingerprint-based background check per IRS Publication 1075.

Vacation and Sick Leave:Eligible full-time employees receive between15 and 35 personal daysand13 sick daysper year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.

Paid Parental Leave:Eligible employees can take12 weeks of paid leaveimmediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.

Paid Holidays:Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
