Mission of Office of Saving People Money on Health Care: The goal of the Office is to identify and implement policies that will reduce health care costs while expanding access to quality care in every corner of Colorado. The Office is led by Lieutenant Governor Dianne Primavera.

Description of Job

Position Title: OSPMHC Policy Analyst & Coordinator

Hiring Salary Range: $57,250 - $66,950

FLSA Classification: Exempt (not over time eligible)

Expected Annual Travel: Minimal

Summary of Functions: The Policy Analyst & Coordinator supports the Office of Saving People Money on Health Care, which is housed in the Office of the Lt. Governor Dianne Primavera, with policy, logistics, and operations responsibilities.

Position Description:

The Policy Analyst & Coordinator will:

  • Support the OSPMHC on health policy issues (30%);

  • Lead Office of Saving People Money on Health Care (OSPMHC) logistics and operational duties (25%);

  • Support the Lt. Governor’s Office on health care-related community engagement operations, staffing, and logistics (25%); and

  • Facilitate the Governor’s Core 5 Health Cabinet Working Groups (20%).

    The Policy Analyst & Coordinator will report to the Health Policy Advisor, who reports to the Senior Policy Advisor/Deputy Director of the Office of Saving People Money on Health Care. For certain work assignments, the Policy Analyst & Coordinator may work closely with other members of the Lt. Governor’s Office or the Governor’s Office.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Draft policy briefs and memos in collaboration with policy staff.

  • Conduct research on health-related legislation, budget issues, and public policy.

  • Monitor health-related legislative and budget issues.

  • Lead OSPMHC team logistics, including scheduling and attending meetings, drafting memos, taking notes, and tracking follow up items.

  • Staff the Lt. Governor in health care related meetings and community engagement events, including writing briefing materials and tracking follow up items.

  • Support the Lt. Governor’s Office with other duties as assigned on health care engagements.

  • Assist with management of the Governor / Lt. Governor’s Health Cabinet meetings. This may include developing meeting materials and facilitating meetings or portions thereof. Collaborate with State Agency staff, the Lt. Governor’s Office, and the Governor’s Operations Team to schedule meetings, build agendas, organize speakers, create memos and materials, staff the Lt. Governor, facilitate meetings, and track follow up items.

  • Excellent meeting facilitation skills.

  • Experience with community engagement and outreach.

  • Familiarity with structures and processes of state and/or federal government.

  • Experience supporting supervisors or senior level staff in public forums.

  • A well-developed sense of humor and an outgoing, joyous attitude.

    Education and Experience:

  • 5 years of relevant experience in an area closely related to the work to be performed by this role.

    OR

  • Bachelor’s degree in public administration, public health, political science, sociology, government, or a related field and at least 1 year of work experience in an area related to the work areas to be performed by this role.

  • Additional education may be substituted for the experience requirement on a year-for-year basis.
