As a Phlebotomist (Blood Donation Specialist), you will transform "the gift" to save and enhance lives while assisting our blood donors in their mission to donate a unit of their life saving blood. Training: Our training is best in class. Our Education and Training Specialists will teach you all aspects of the position to be a successful BDS. In training, you will learn how to: Perform short health exams, Conduct a medical / social history interview Perform venipuncture. Schedule: The schedule is provided 3 weeks in advance Variable Monday - Saturday. Saturdays are in rotation and shifts generally end between 2-3pm at the latest. The start and end times of the shifts vary to meet the needs of the scheduled blood drives and because of this shift lengths will vary as well. The average shift is 6-8 hours which includes the travel time to and from the blood drive site and the blood drive itself. Our Blood Drives: Occur within a 16-county radius A company vehicle is used to transport staff to and from the blood drive location. Your schedule will consist of a mix of the following types of drives Typically, corporate blood drives occur between the hours of 8am - 5pm. Community Drives are usually scheduled from 4pm - 8pm High school drives typically occur between 8am - noon. Desired Qualifications The successful candidate will be resourceful, detail oriented and have critical thinking skills. Previous experience as a Phlebotomist or Medical Assistant Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus About Solvita We began in Dayton in 1964 as the region's first centralized blood bank.
