Schedule

7:00pm to 7:00am, 72 hours per pay period and every other weekend.

  • The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the delivery of patient care. The professional nurse assumes the responsibility and accountability for the delegation of patient care to other members of the healthcare team.

  • Critical Care Nursing Skills • Manage the complex care of critically ill patients• Applies critical care theory in care of patients• Calculates, titrates and administers medications, IV solutions, and skin testing, per policy• Ventilator Management/Weaning- VAP protocol- Sedation/analgesia• Dialysis therapy responsibilities: Hemodialysis, CAPD• Thrombolytic Therapy- Stroke protocol- DVT protocol• Arterial Blood Gas sampling• Initiation and maintenance of invasive hemodynamic monitoring (CVP, PA lines, A-lines).• Operate monitoring equipment for ICP Monitoring.• Rhythm and 12 lead ECG interpretation• Cardiac Pacing (permanent, external, transvenous)• Defibrillation/cardioversion• Functions as a member of the Code Blue Team and Rapid Response Team as per hospital policy• Possess knowledge and skills necessary to assist the physician with the insertion of invasive tubes/line• Moderate Sedation• Recognizes appropriate dosage and proficient in administration of medication• Monitors patient vital signs and maintains IV access as per policy• Recognizes changes in patient’s condition and responds appropriately• Documents medications, vital signs, patient response and special instructions• Wound prevention and care:- Pressure ulcer- Arterial and Venous stasis ulcer- Surgical wounds• Initiates IV therapy as per policy/procedure, taking into consideration vein condition, patient age, skin condition, patient positioning, and cognition• Monitors and maintains venous access:- Vesicants- Non-vesicants- Documentation• Demonstrates care and maintenance of central venous access devices• Dialysis Therapy responsibilities pre and post treatment PD• POCT: Blood glucose Monitoring & Quality Control.• Provides respiratory support (Pulse ox, suctioning, wall and portable oxygen therapy)• Maintains drainage tubes• Problem focused physical assessment• Cardiac monitors:- Customizes/edits/reviews patient alarms/information- Trouble shoots poor waveforms and equipment problems- Assigns transmitters when necessary- Notifies supervisor/biomedical of equipment failure/problem• Phlebotomy skills- Blood culture, T&C specimens, etc.- Central venous access device- Labeling of specimens Required Critical Care RN Education/ Experience • 1 year critical care experience preferred or 2-3 years medical/surgical nursing experience• Completion of approved critical care course• Completion of approved dysrhythmia course• ACLS• CCRN certification preferredBSN or BS/BA degree in NursingCurrent RN Pennsylvania state license required.Current BCLS required or obtained by completion of orientation.ACLS required or obtained by completion of orientation if Applicable to Area of Practice.Professional certifications preferred.Heart experience required. 24 hours with every other weekend.RN 0.9 FTE PM (7p-7a) with an EOW commitment
