Program Director (Physician) Family Medicine Residency New Milford Hospital, New Milford, CT

New Milford Hospital, affiliated with Danbury Hospital and a part of Nuvance Health, has a unique opportunity for an academic family medicine physician to be a “founding” Program Director for a new Family Medicine Residency program that will be based at New Milford and Danbury Hospitals for inpatient care and New Milford and Brookfield for outpatient care. This is an exciting chance to be a leader in the planning and startup of a Family Medicine Residency in CT which is expected to have 4 Residents per year starting in July 2025. The role will be 50% Administrative and 50% clinical working in both an inpatient and outpatient setting.

Danbury Hospital, established in 1885, is a not-for-profit community hospital providing Greater Danbury area resident's convenient access to exceptional care. Danbury Hospital has 371 beds and is a Level II Trauma Center with approximately 70,000 ED visits per year. As a teaching hospital, it is associated with University of Vermont College of Medicine, Yale University School of Medicine, Ross University School of Medicine and the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine.

Job Summary:

The Program Director of the Family Medicine Residency Program is responsible for the leadership, organization, operation, and general administration of the Nuvance Health Family Medicine Residency Program. The Program Director establishes the strategic direction of the program and is responsible for the standards, quality and reputation of the program. The Program Director is expected to integrate the Family Medicine Residency Program with physician practices and hospital clinical services in a manner that enhances value and quality and promotes an optimal environment for professional practice and medical education.

Responsibilities:

· Oversee operations of the Family Medicine Residency Program.

· Develop a program budget and oversee budget execution under supervision of the DIO.

· Participate in competency evaluations of residents and faculty.

· Recruit and select candidates for the residency program through the National Residency Matching Program.

· Ensure the quality of didactic and clinical education in all sites that participate in the program.

· Select qualified Family Medicine physicians and other specialists to serve on the program faculty.

· Appoint local directors at the participating site(s) who are accountable for resident education.

· Ensure that the program does not place excessive reliance on residents for service as opposed to education.

· Maintain active clinical practice, typically in Family Medicine or one of the subspecialties of Family Medicine.

· Develop curriculum, policies, and procedures for the program in accordance with ACGME standards.

Job Requirements:

· MD or DO with CT State License, Federal DEA and State Controlled Substance Registration

· 3+ years’ experience in the medical education of Residents

· Board Certified in Family Medicine

Salary range:

$275,000 - $285,000 annually commensurate or relative to experience.
