The Nurse Intern Program is full-time, 40 hours per week for 10 weeks starting June 3, 2024.

The Nursing Internship Program is designed to provide nursing students the opportunity to gain hands on experience in areas within the nursing field outside of hospital bed-side patient care. During the experience you will get exposure to patient care needs through the healthcare continuum, enrichment opportunities such as the UHG Corporate Headquarters Experience, Day in the Life of a Nurse Series, Enterprise Foundations, networking, and student cohort connections.

Primary Responsibilities:

As a Nurse Intern with the Enterprise Clinical Services team, you will work under the supervision of experienced RNs and clinical leaders to learn how to:

  • Perform utilization management clinical chart reviews.

  • Identify and communicate opportunities to optimize policies, processes, and performance.

  • Make recommendations for improvement to Clinical Outcomes Monitoring leadership based on current and future end-to-end processes and criteria.

  • Accurately and thoroughly document assessment findings to accurately track, trend, and historically represent findings, gaps, deficiencies, and risks in patient care.

  • Provide guidance and clinical expertise to clinical leaders to inform process and performance improvement.

  • Serve as a key resource to provide explanation and information about findings, including complex/critical issues.

  • Explain and educate on appropriate application of nationally recognized clinical guidelines.

  • React swiftly to challenges, ambiguity and uncertainty effectively.

  • Build and strengthen customer relationships and to find better ways to meet customer needs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited RN Bachelor’s degree program with graduation anticipated within 12 months of internship

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

  • Must be available to work full-time, 40 hours per week during the duration of the summer internship program (from June 3 - August 9)

  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization (F-1 students with practical training and candidates requiring H-1Bs, TNs, etc. will not be considered)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA

  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills

  • Knowledge of clinical terminology
