Responsible for the operations and management of the Respiratory Department and for assisting in the planning and organizing of the strategic direction. Will help to ensure the delivery of quality patient care while improving standards of care delivery, standards of practice and fiscal stewardship while meeting the mission of the hospital; ensure competence and education of staff, maintain and promote clinical management competency and professional growth in the work environment; accept responsibility to develop and maintain positive physician, customer/patient and inter-departmental relationships

Your Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree required • Master’s degree highly preferred • Registered by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) • Licensed in Texas as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP)

Your Job Responsibilities:

• Creates an environment that facilitates operations/employee performance behaviors that produces quality care, optimal patient outcomes and high customer satisfaction. • Actively participates in service recovery. • Upholds the performance standards of behavior and departmental rules of engagement. • Establishes and maintains a productive working relationship with the Program Medical Director and all pulmonary-associated physicians and their office staff. • Works collaboratively with the Medical Director in addressing clinical practice issues and communicating with the medical staff. • Assists Physician Services in identifying and recruiting required/needed pulmonologists and other related subspecialty physicians to the MHS medical staff. • Maintains a constructive and collaborative relationship with other MHS departments. • Responsible for strategic and business plan development for MDMC Respiratory Therapy Department and related services in conjunction with the Medical Director, senior leadership and the respiratory leadership team. Revises plan (s) as necessary. • Responsible for project management for MDMC Respiratory Therapy Department and related services. • Evaluates future oncology and oncology related services for MDMC Respiratory Therapy Department. • Upholds the departmental philosophy and mission statement. Revises as necessary. • Develops departmental goals, in conjunction with the Medical Director and leadership team, with annual evaluation, and adjusts goals throughout the year as appropriate. • Ensures development, implementation and evaluation of departmental value program (i.e. QA/QC, SOS service plus). • Uses continuous process improvement for evaluation, implementation and improvement in patient care outcomes and responsible for ensuring that the operating practices and quality of services rendered by the department comply with requirements and guidelines set forth by various licensing and accrediting and regulatory agencies. • Ensures adherence to established respiratory clinical guidelines and professional standards of practice/care. • Responsible for the development, communication and implementation of hospital/departmental policies, guidelines and protocols. • Retains qualified program staff by providing education, support and reviewing market “incentives” (i.e. salaries, benefits). • Responsible for all interviewing, selection, orientation, evaluation, promotion, disciplinary actions and terminations of departmental personnel. Ensure actions follow the guidelines of hospital policies and established governmental licensing and regulatory agencies. • Develops annual departmental budget maintaining cost containment efforts and revenue generating measures. • Responsible for the development, communication and implementation of hospital policies and guidelines within the department. • Promotes a positive and harmonious work environment through employee satisfaction, engagement and recognition processes. • Promotes STAFFccountability through coaching/feedback and disciplinary action as appropriate while maintaining low turnover. • Strives to maintain appropriate staffing levels. • Is proactive and visible. • Maintains appropriate staffing ratios. • Establishes financial dashboard (performance measurements and indicators) and acts on outliers. • Develops departmental capital and operating budget annually. Operates within those defined boundaries. • Reviews charge structure for appropriateness. • Maximizes cost savings through process improvement. • Ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations, requirements, standards and guidelines for satisfactory reviews and program accreditation. • Coaches, mentors, supports and challenges the leadership team to excel beyond their goals and comfort. • Acts as a role model. • Develops and promotes team leads and ensures adequate educational opportunities are provided.
