Amazon Manager, Live Programming & Format Planning, Prime Video Live Sports Programming in Culver City, California

Join Amazon's dynamic Live Sports Programming Team. We are looking for an experienced Programming expert to create live event formats and launch and manage our portfolio of Sports Programming on Prime Video. This role will maintain rights-holder relationships with our League and Team partners, manage deal terms, and lead cross-functional alignment across partner teams to guarantee excellence pre- and post-property launch.

Key job responsibilities

The Programming Manager will be responsible for end-to-end communication for the implementation of live sports on Prime Video for the lifecycle of properties annually (pre-launch, launch, and live property management). You will be responsible for creating the program integration framework for live sports on PV (commercial and promotional). You will engage with our internal (Marketing, Legal, PR, Production, Product, Ads, etc.) and external League/ Team (NFL, NHL, NASCAR, Yankees, etc.) partners. You will be responsible for post-event reporting and tracking. You will evaluate the steady state and develop mechanisms to improve the operation and customer experience.

As the Programming Manager, you are also responsible for leading the end-to-end programming launch readiness roadmap for the Live Sports team. Programming Managers assume the responsibility of organizational interdependencies with other teams (e.g., Production, Finance, Ad Sales & Operations, Content Acquisitions, Business Affairs, Business Development, and other corporate stakeholders) to ensure business continuity for property and event launches.

The successful candidate is a self-starter and possesses the ability to complete high volumes of complex tasks and projects quickly, and reacts with appropriate urgency to situations and events that require immediate response and turnaround. The candidate has a proven track record taking on end-to-end ownership and is effective at delivering results in a fast-paced and dynamic business environment. The candidate will be able to spot an issue, drive decision making, and escalate matters that have risk impact.

Key job responsibilities

  • Own and manage commercial formatting and integrations for different sporting events.

  • Manage relationship with ad operations team to ensure ad delivery syncs with the production operation of the live event.

  • Drive synergy with stakeholder teams including production, ad sales, business affairs, business development, finance, and other operations teams to create, implement and improve new and existing processes.

  • Manager relationship with external partners to organize all cross-functional communications, presentations, approvals, and ad hoc activities required.

  • Prepare and analyze reports to share with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Customer Obsession over internal and external programming stakeholders.

A day in the life

The Programming team is responsible for scheduling and operationalizing high quality live sports properties to customers, across all Prime Video product lines and devices. We work closely with internal and external partners to bring sports to life on Prime Video.

Basic Qualifications

  • 6+ years of live event commercial formatting on a linear and/or streaming platform in a programming capacity.

  • Experience working in sports broadcasting operations and / or production.

  • 8+ years of media experience

  • Experience working with Sports Leagues & Teams

Preferred Qualifications

The candidate has deep knowledge and experience in live Sports broadcast production, with a strong acumen in Sports Programming. High level competency and experience with overall Sports Programming processes including scheduling / format builds and planning, project management, and complex problem solving across multiple partner teams. Experience launching, operating, managing, and delivering results in a live Sports Programming role. Proven track record working on commercial formatting and relationships with league and team partners. Proven track record of working cross functionally to lead and earn trust with multiple stakeholders across various departments through written and verbal communication.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $101,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $177,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
