About the Position: Serves as Ordnance Equipment Inspector with Crane Army Ammunition Activity (CAAA). *Temporary Not to Exceed (NTE) 1 Year. See "Qualifications" section for details on Temporary positions. Responsibilities Supports ammunition production through accumulation and analysis of test and dimensional data. Checks operational parameters such as ram force of presses, rate of travel of rams and drills, and revolutions per minute of drills and fuze-inserting machines. Notifies appropriate personnel when a deviation from a predetermined standard occurs. Assesses and adjusts own quality control methods and procedures when changes occur in production lines to perform duties in the most economical and efficient manner. Ensures required forms, charts, graphs, and materials are available. Ensures test and measuring equipment is calibrated for immediate use. Maintains quality control of assemblies such as bombs (all types), rockets, gun ammunition, flares, submarine signals, marine markers, etc. Performs ambient and environmental function tests for complete function, penetration, delay times, burning times, suspension times, indentation, and pressure generation. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Ordnance Equipment Inspector without more than normal supervision.Ability to perform the common Ordnance Equipment Inspector tasks such as 1) Applying customer quality requirements, through either instruction or application in the manufacturing environment; 2) Analyzing data obtained from tools, gages, and testing for use in applications such as design, chemical formulation, process, machines, procedures, or materiel; and 3) Organizing data reports to provide to stakeholders. Ability To Inspect Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading) Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Quality Assurance Trouble Shooting Use of Measuring Instruments Physical Effort: At times, it is necessary to lift items weighing up to 75 pounds manually. Heavier weights require the use of handling equipment, rollers, slings, etc. Kneeling, standing, bending and working in awkward positions is necessary while inspecting equipment. Good vision and color vision is necessary for proper identification of different types of ammunition and reading measuring devices. Must be physically fit in order to perform the job. Working Conditions: Working conditions vary with type of assignment and are performed both indoors and outside. Incumbent can be called upon to work in unheated and poorly illuminated magazines and warehouses. The incumbent will be exposed to the natural ambient environments of heat, cold, dirt, dust, rain, ice, and snow. Work can also be performed in remote/isolated areas. Protective clothing and equipment must be worn on many operations and tests.
