U.S. Army Joint Munitions Command Machinist Supervisor in Crane, Indiana

About the Position: Serves as Machinist Supervisor with Crane Army Ammunition Activity (CAAA) exercising direct supervisory responsibility over work operations involving as many as 24 subordinate workers. *Temporary Not to Exceed (NTE) 1 Year. See "Qualifications" section for details on Temporary positions. Responsibilities Plans daily or weekly work schedules and sequence of operations for subordinates. Explains work requirements, methods and procedures, instructs subordinates in new procedures, and provides advice when problems arise. Adjusts plans, assignments and methods as necessary to accomplish the work as effectively and economically as feasible. Sets performance requirements and makes formal and informal performance appraisals. Takes informal corrective action on conduct or performance problems. Initiates proposals for disciplinary action where needed. Determines equipment and supplies at work site as needed. Coordinates work of unit with other units that may be involved. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted. Position may be made permanent without further competition. Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a temporary appointment will be appointed/converted into a temporary appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to Lead or Supervise. Applicants must meet the screen out element to be considered further. The work of a Machinist Supervisor includes leading or supervising machinists and machine tool operators in a manufacturing environment; developing work schedules, writing performance appraisals, conducting formal and/or cross training; reviewing employees completed work; completing production reports; and interpret and translate work orders from drawings and/or specifications. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is usually performed in a well lighted, heated, and ventilated area. However, the supervisor will be required to visit work sites, where the supervisor will be subject to extreme high temperature, noise, dirt, burns, cuts, bruises, and possible injuries. You will be required to wear safety glasses, safety shoes, gloves, and hearing protection. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. This is a(n) Logistics Career Field position.
