Synchrony VP, Solution Architecture Manager in Costa Mesa, California

Job Description:

Role Summary/Purpose:

The VP, Solution Architecture Manager is an experienced position with many responsibilities. Like other architects, they design sound technology solutions to business problems, but due to their track record of quality performance, they also serve as managers, mentors, advisors and coordinators. They guide their team, but they also work with clients and company leaders to ensure the overall success of multiple projects. The VP, Solution Architecture Manager must have a balanced mix of technical and business skills, with accountability for the impact of technical decisions on business outcomes.

A Solution Architecture Manager needs significant people and process skills, to be able to communicate complex ideas and issues in simple terms, sometimes to senior management. They also need to understand the business processes to create a cohesive vision of the products. The VP, Solution Architecture Manager progresses to the VP, Senior Solution Architecture Manager, through broader roles and responsibilities.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Build and integrate information systems to meet the organization's needs.

  • Examine the current systems architecture, and work with business and technical staff to recommend solutions that result in more effective systems.

  • Lead and mentor multiple groups of solution architects.

  • Have complete technical stewardship of an initiative / application. Has a key responsibility for the vision that underlies the solution and the execution of that vision into the solution.

  • Select the most appropriate technology for a problem, and balance architectural concerns of the project with the business considerations of the enterprise.

  • Manage multiple solution architects working together in a program or a set of projects and will report to the senior management.

  • Deal with both people and technologies, and systems of organization, management and engineering. Additionally, the VP, Solution Architecture Manager deals even with people and the non-technical systems that support the process of designing enterprise-scale systems of systems.

  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum 7 years of experience in multiple IT areas OR, in lieu of degree, High School Diploma/GED 10 years of application development experience

  • Minimum of 9years of full stack development using Spring, other JEE technologies, API, microservices and UI technologies and frameworks.

  • Minimum 9 years of experience in application architecture and design.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Event Driven architectural patterns.

  • Proven knowledge and experience in enterprise level technical solutioning

  • Management and leadership skills are essential. Previous experience of 4 years in managing a technology solutioning function comprising multiple solution architects

  • Demonstrated experience in leading a large technology solutioning function.

  • Experience in B2B applications, Point-of-Sale systems and their integrations.

  • Expertise in Application security, including secure coding practices and DevSecOps Integrations.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Strong working knowledge of fintech Industry as it relates to consumer financing

  • Deep experience in service-oriented architecture

  • Experience in Composable Architecture patterns.

  • Deep Agile expertise

  • Critical thinking and creativity

  • Experience building and deploying application on Cloud platforms

  • Working knowledge of API gateways

  • Expertise in mobile solutions including native and mobile web

  • Experience with enterprise architecture frameworks like Zachman or TOGAF

Grade/Level: 13

The salary range for this position is 150,000.00 - 250,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months' time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months' time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don't meet the time in position or performance expectations).
