This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for Temporary Survey Technicians for our Columbus, OH office. Be involved in projects with our Oil and Gas Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

Your Impact

  • Act as the on-site representative for WSP

  • Conduct site survey each day to assess jobsite hazards and appropriate PPE required.

  • Attend a Job Hazard Analysis Meeting every morning with field crew.

  • Establish onsite control.

  • Locate and probe existing company gas lines.

  • Assist crew chief to perform topographical surveys gathering data on all major terrain features.

  • Take field notes of field data gathered.

  • Ensure all work is performed per design and company specifications through observations after completion of work.

  • Ensure all work is performed safely and proper procedures and quality control are followed.

  • Position may interface with landowners and refer any landowner questions, concerns or issues to the appropriate client representative.

  • Complete training on assigned tasks.

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of survey fundamentals.

  • 0-2 years of relevant work experience.

  • Good interpersonal, documentation, and computer skills (Outlook, Word, and Excel).

  • Fundamental understanding of pipeline design surveys, construction staking, and as-built surveys.

  • Experience with line locating with electronic line locator helpful

  • Good interpersonal, documentation, and computer skills (Outlook, Word, and Excel).

  • Ability to record information in a legible and accurate manner. (Field Notes)

  • Knowledgeable of company policies and procedures.

  • Professional oral and written communication skills.

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.

  • Travel is required, up to 90%, depending on project-specific requirements.

  • Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.

  • This role is subject to a client-mandated drug/alcohol testing policy. As such, employee may be subject to random drug/alcohol tests. A copy of this policy will be provided during employee onboarding and is available upon applicant request.
