Fosters effective communication among health care professionals who provide nursing care to children with altered health states. Develops and implements educational programs for patients, parents and families, hospital staff, and community health personnel. Responsibilities Provides nursing care using a Family Centered approach. Collaborates with primary care physicians, specialty physicians, and other service providers to identify patients in need of care coordination. Works closely with families to guide them through the health care system to optimize the care and services they receive to improve child health, decrease costs, and improve satisfaction with care. Administers treatments in a manner that improves clinical outcomes and reduces risk or cost. Ensures delivery of preventive services, health promotion activities and other interventions that proactively address potential risks. Aware of evidence based standards and applicable national standards. Participates in policy and procedure development, continuing education, continuous quality improvement, research and/or evidenced based practice Engages in the workplace community by staying aware of changes, participating in data collection or auditing, understanding Quality Improvement, and representing staff at relevant meetings Qualifications EDUCATION: BSN LICENSURE: Licensed as a registered nurse in the State of Ohio. Valid driver's license, good driving record and proof of insurance. Driving of personal vehicle is required. EXPERIENCE: Clinical skill and knowledge in the nursing care of children including normal growth and development and/or clinical expertise in specialized area required.
