Coordinator Graduate Practicum Experience

Mount Carmel enrolls over 1,100 students and offers traditional and accelerated pre-licensure BSN programs, an online RN-BSN program, an MS program with concentrations in Nursing Education (offered online), Nursing Administration, Family Nurse Practitioner, and Adult-Gero Acute Care Nurse Practitioner and an online DNP program.

The MCCN Master of Science (MS) Program is designed for career-minded baccalaureate-prepared registered nurses who are ready to assume even greater responsibility and reap the benefits of expanded career opportunities.

Mount Carmel College of Nursing is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission: North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The Master’s program is authorized by the Ohio Board of Regents. The Master's Program has earned nursing accreditation with the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) through December 31, 2022.

About the position:

The Department of Graduate Nursing is seeking applicants to fill the Coordinator of Graduate Practicum Experiences position for the Family Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Nursing Leadership - Clinical Operations, Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program, and Doctor of Nursing Practice Programs. This is an exempt, full-time, 12-month (1.0 FTE) position. The Coordinator for Graduate Experiences reports to the Director of Graduate & DNP Programs.

Essential Job Functions

  • Maintain documentation on clinical sites and assist students in securing clinical site rotations.

  • Collaborate with the Program Leadership in evaluation related to the clinical rotations of students and their preceptors to ensure articulation of MCCN Graduate Nursing Department’s total program evaluation plan.

  • Lead evaluation of the Nurse Practitioner Program in relation to the student clinical component requirements and in assisting with preparation of internal and external annual reports in regards to program outcomes

  • Assist in promoting visibility and advancement of the role of advanced practice nursing within and outside Mount Carmel College of Nursing

  • Serve as liaison between other agencies and Mount Carmel College of Nursing to advance practice and educational achievement in graduate nurses

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience with public relations

  • Willingness and ability to travel in order to build relationships with clinical facilities and preceptors.

  • Proven interpersonal skills including the ability to read, write, and effectively communicate in the English language

  • The position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy

  • Must possess good time management and organizational skills

  • Sufficient skills, knowledge and training to take full ownership of and responsibility for all essential functions of this position

  • High motivation and commitment to the College, including the ability to self-start, be calm under pressure, meet deadlines, work without direct supervision, be able to multitask, problem-solve, and relate to a variety of personalities under diverse circumstances

  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality

  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software applications including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

  • Must be dependable, with proven record of punctuality and consistent attendance

  • Ability to view a computer screen for extended

  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree, DNP preferred.

  • Active and unrestricted RN licensure in the state of Ohio, as applicable.
