Job Overview

Performs high quality pediatric diagnostic imaging procedures. Provides conscientious patient care while adhering to all quality and safety standards defined by the organization. Performs administrative duties including but not limited to scheduling appointments, patient instructions, and maintenance of records. This position is responsible for communicating regularly with patients, families, and all hospital and community caregivers while following department expectations for interactions with patients and families. This position is required to be on call depending on the position's location.

Qualifications

EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited Radiology program CERTIFICATION(S): o American Registry of Radiologic Technologists: Registered Radiologic Technologist ARRT(R) o American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider*

Responsibilities

POPULATION SPECIFIC CARE Provides patient care to all of these age groups: * Neonate- 30 days to 1 yr * Toddlers- > 1 yr to 3 yrs * Pre-schoolers- > 3 yrs to 5 yrs * School age-> 5yrs to 13 yrs * Adolescent- >13 yrs to 18 yrs * Adult- >18 yrs to 65 yrs ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform. 1. Produces high quality radiographic images, both fixed and portable, while accurately demonstrating anatomy and pathology. 2. Facilitates patient flow daily; to include management of STAT/urgent and high priority patients. 3. Provides age-appropriate care and appropriately prepares patients for procedures. 4. Provides clear and detailed information regarding the procedure and care to patients, families, coworkers, and others. 5. Operates all Diagnostic imaging equipment; to include ancillary equipment following safety procedures and protocols. 6. Utilizes principles of ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) and ensures proper radiation safety practices. 7. Maintains required competency in dose reduction techniques and the Image Gently Campaign. 8. Demonstrates and maintains competency and ability to use all aspects of Radiology Information System (RIS), Electronic Medical Records (EMR), Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) as it
