Overview:

Join our EMS Paramedic Educator team! As an EMS Paramedic Educator you will be responsible for the development, coordination and teaching of EMS courses/continuing education programs which meet established state and national Department of Transportation standards. You will provide formal and informal classroom lectures, practical field experiences, skills training and protocol reviews to enhance the delivery of pre-hospital care.

EMS Paramedic Educator Responsibilities include:

  • Research, develop, coordinate, conduct and evaluate a variety of training programs

  • Present didactic and skills material in both formal and informal in-house and out-of-house settings

  • Develop new, innovative and relevant teaching presentations for pre-hospital training and education driven by quality indicators and benchmarking data

  • Evaluate materials for educational usefulness and validity

  • Assist in the development of annual course schedule

  • Assist in scheduling of clinical rotations

  • Assist EMS Medical Directors with annual physician assessment

  • Act as a liaison with emergency medical service agencies and various service lines

  • Incorporate continuous quality improvement principles in daily activities

  • Monitor performance of pre-hospital activities by retrospective, concurrent and prospective activities.

  • Act as a knowledgeable, reliable and timely system wide resource for issues and topics related to EMS locally, statewide and nationally.

Qualifications:

In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:

  • HS Diploma/GED Required

  • Associates Degree Preferred.

  • Three years of experience in emergency medical services (EMS), preferably both in field (ambulanceand/or fire agency) and in hospital; preferably familiar and connected to Colorado EMS.

  • Two years of experience in developing educational programs and instructing students by using adult learning principles and instructional methodologies.

  • Knowledge and experience in medical/trauma terminology, disease conditions, pharmacology, treatment modalities, therapeutic testing and interventions.

  • Colorado State Paramedic Certification or National Registry Paramedic Certification (with eligibility for reciprocity). Colorado State Assistant Instructor Course, Colorado State Primary Instructor Course and Course Administration upon hire or within one year of hire/transfer.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. If at the time of hire/transfer date candidate has BLS, ACLS, PALS Instructor Certifications than the basic BLS, ACLS and PALS Certifications are not required.

  • Basic Life Support Instructor Certification upon hire or within one year of hire/transfer. If at the time of hire/transfer date candidate has BLS, ACLS, PALS Instructor Certifications than the basic BLS, ACLS and PALS Certifications are not required.

  • Advanced Life Support (ACLS) Certification. Advanced Life Support Instructor Certification upon hire or within six months of hire/transfer. If at the time of hire/transfer date candidate has BLS, ACLS, PALS Instructor Certifications than the basic BLS, ACLS and PALS Certifications are not required.

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification. If at the time of hire/transfer date candidate has BLS, ACLS, PALS Instructor Certifications than the basic BLS, ACLS and PALS Certifications are not required.

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support Instructor Certification upon hire or within six months hire/transfer.If at the time of hire/transfer date candidate has BLS, ACLS, PALS Instructor Certifications than the basic BLS, ACLS and PALS Certifications are not required.

Physical Requirements

Medium Work - exert/lift up to 50 lbs. force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. constantly

$35.59 - $58.03 / hour
