Laboratory Quality Specialist - Pathology Admin & Support Svcs

Location: METROHEALTH MEDICAL CENTER

Biweekly Hours: 80.00

Shift: 8a-5p

Summary:

Serves as a facilitator of quality assessment activities for Laboratory Services to include patient safety initiatives, regulatory and accreditation compliance, laboratory safety and performance improvement. Ensures all testing performed adheres to departmental and system guidelines, quality control standards, Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) regulations, College of American Pathologists (CAP), The Joint Commission Accreditation (TJC) Standards, and other accrediting agencies. Identifies and recommends improvements in operating procedures. Provides training to laboratory staff and residents. Cooperates with a diverse group of people and skill levels in performing daily operational tasks. Upholds departmental policies and the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of the MetroHealth System.

Qualifications:

Required: Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution with at least two years of training and/or experience in nonwaived testing in the designated specialty or subspecialty area of service for which the individual is responsible. 5 years of progressively more responsible experience in the designated specialty or section in the Clinical Laboratory for which the individual is responsible. Experience with laboratory equipment and computer systems. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Reliable mode of transportation and ability to rotate locations within The MetroHealth System. Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Preferred: 10 years of progressively more responsible experience in the designated specialty or section in the Clinical Laboratory for which the individual is responsible. Experience in quality assurance preferred. Registered (MT/ASCP, MLS/ASCP, or appropriate ASCP specialty).
