Job Responsibilities:

• Sets up and adjusts all equipment and manually maneuvers transducers to perform exams.

• Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures.

• Performs routine echocardiograms under the supervision of a Registered Cardiac Sonographer.

• Recognizes significant structures, artifacts, pathology and equipment limitations.

• Other duties as assigned.

Education:

• Currently enrolled in a Medical Diagnostic Sonography program specializing in Echocardiography, or BSN in Nursing or Master's Degree in exercise physiology, kinesiology or similar related field.

• Individual will be evaluated continuously and will be promoted to Cardiac Sonographer within a minimum of 6 months or maximum of 12 months.

Certifications:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers is required.

Competencies (Complexity of Work):

• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Work Experience:

• Currently enrolled in a Medical Diagnostic Sonography program specializing in Echocardiography and completing their clinicals at Cleveland Clinic or worked in a patient care setting as an Exercise Physiologist or Registered Nurse for one year.

Physical Requirements:

• Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.

• Ability to push and maneuver 500-pound equipment and motor coordination to operate equipment.

• Be able to assist patients when necessary.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures
