The mission of the Human & Environmental Predictive Technologies Department is to develop knowledge and tests aimed at decoding and evaluating the potential harmful effect of an ingredient, alone or in formula, on the human body and to offer testing capabilities to support R&I innovation. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Systemic & Computational Toxicologist to join our team. At this position, you are expected to play a crucial role in exploring innovative tools, identifying need gaps, and developing suitable systems to enable novel predictive models for safety assessment. Your expertise in biology and systemic toxicology will contribute to the development and implementation of predictive platforms to evaluate the potential toxicity of chemical compounds and cosmetic ingredients. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and a variety of partners across Advanced Research, Safety, Digital transformation, and Open Innovation teams to provide insights and recommendations for developing and using innovative computational tools.

We are seeking a Principal Scientist to join our Advanced Research Systemic and Computational Toxicology Team in our Clark, New Jersey Research facility.

As a Principal Scientist for our Systemic and Computational Toxicology Team, your main responsibilities are:

  • Leverage knowledge in human biology to inform data needs for systemic toxicity

  • Develop and implement computational models and algorithms to predict the toxicity of chemicals with primary focus on human relevant systemic effects.

  • Analyze and interpret the output of the computational tools in collaboration with peers covering in vitro and legacy studies, to identify potential alerts.

  • In close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including chemists, biologists, (bio)informaticians and toxicologists, to integrate computational toxicology approaches into decision-making.

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in computational toxicology and contribute to the development of new methodologies and tools.

  • Communicate findings and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.

  • Manage postdocs and ongoing activities in US/North America

  • Communicate in the field in scientific consortia/events.

    To Succeed in this Position, You Have:

  • A completed Ph.D. in Pharmacology/Toxicology, computational toxicology, biology, human and environmental safety or a related field is required

  • Strong track record in computational toxicology with at least 10 years of professional experience

  • Deep understanding of predictive biology

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and draw meaningful conclusions.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities, paying particular attention to deadlines and agreed-to deliverables. Knowledge of regulatory requirements and guidelines related to safety assessment and toxicology will be a plus.

  • Willing to travel domestically and internationally (10% of time)

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB, and experience with data analysis and modeling techniques are a plus.

  • The ability to be onsite, in the office as this is an essential function of the position (required)

  • Authorization to work in the United States on a full-time, permanent, ongoing basis, without the need for legal sponsorship now or in the future (required)
