Indian Health Service Respiratory Therapist in Claremore, Oklahoma

Summary This Respiratory Therapist (RT) position will work independently providing a variety of complex respiratory therapy treatments in both inpatient and/or outpatient settings for the neonatal, pediatric, and adult population at the Claremore Indian Hospital, Claremore, OK. The position reports to the RT Supervisor. Sign-on bonus and/or Relocation are available. A one-two year service agreement is required, failure to fulfill the agreement may result in repayment. Responsibilities Set up and monitor respiratory equipment, such as invasive and non-invasive ventilators (critical systems), and end tidal CO2 monitors. Administer a variety of complex respiratory therapy treatments. Draw arterial blood gas samples in accordance with established policy and procedure. Responsible for operation, routine maintenance, daily calibrations, and quality control of the ABG analyzer. Perform diagnostic pulmonary function testing for patients requiring Forced Vital Capacity (FVC), Slow Vital Capacity (SVC), Lung Volumes (FRC), and Diffusing Capacities (DLCO) including completing calibrations/quality controls. Function as an in-service educator to any personnel needing knowledge of respiratory therapy procedures, equipment, pulmonary anatomy, and physiology. Qualifications To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume or other supporting documents must demonstrate that you meet at least one of the following minimum qualifications: GS-09: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Performing respiratory modalities in the critical care environment to include neonatal, pediatric, and adult populations; performing advanced airway management to include artificial airways and ventilation (such as manual ventilation, tracheostomy, endotracheal tube care, Bipap/Cpap management, and/or mechanical ventilation); consulting with physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding complex respiratory care to develop patient care plans to provide favorable patient outcomes; and evaluating the efficacies of therapeutic modalities. OR A completed at least 2 years (36 semester hours) of graduate education that is directly related to the work of the position. OR A combination combination of graduate education beyond the first year (18 semester hours) and specialized experience that, when combined, fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. The total percentage equals at least 100 percent to qualify for this GS-09 grade level. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. This position is covered by a Bargaining Unit. A sign-on bonus of up to $20,000 and/or Relocation Expenses are available. You will be required to sign a one to two year service agreement.
