Job Overview The University of Cincinnati's School of Criminal Justice (School of CJ) is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Academic Director. This position will work very closely with the School's Undergraduate Director and the Center for Criminal Justice Research (CCJR). Primary responsibilities for the position are to support the academic and administrative functions of the School of Criminal Justice undergraduate program and the functions of the CCJR. The selected candidate will be expected to collaborate with the CECH Student Success Team and Academic Advisors. This position will serve as the contact for School of CJ undergraduate events and will be responsible for maintaining student records and communicating with students about program requirements, campus resources, and professional development opportunities. The candidate selected for this position will also work closely with the UG Director and other designated faculty members and graduate students to ensure efficient organization and functioning of the CJ UG Field Placement program and other undergraduate research experiences offered within CJ. To this end, the selected candidate will be responsible for maintaining an inventory of internal and external partners, supporting and coordinating initiatives to foster these relationships, and coordinating and promoting field placements, internships, and networking opportunities for our students. Additionally, this position will be responsible for UG CJ course ordering and maintenance. Other responsibilities include coordination of the School of CJ Career Fair, CJ Society activities, and other CJ UG and CCJR events. Essential Functions Provide leadership for a specific academic program or academic unit. Required Education Bachelor's Degree Required Experience Academic positions will require specific educational credentials and experience related to the program for which the position is responsible. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree with one (1) year experience; -OR- Associate's degree with three (3) years' experience; -OR- five (5) years' experience Experience must be in higher education Additional Qualifications Advanced experience in Microsoft Office products (i.e. Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word) Master's Degree in Criminal Justice or related field University student services experience Experience with Catalyst, CART, and Slate Knowledge of criminal justice agencies and job opportunities/pathways Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills Supplemental training or experience working with mental health, advising, and mentoring Position Details Comprehensive UC benefits package Type of Appointment: Full-Time Exempt Staff Work Location: 6th Floor Teachers-Dyer Complex (Clifton Campus) Physical Requirements/Work Environment Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
