Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):

$56.418 - $72.797 - $89.176

The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position.  The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.

What You Will Do

The Manger of Medical Staff Services, who works with Hospital Administration and the Medical Staff, directs and coordinates administrative support and provides resources needed for the Medical Staff enabling them to fulfill their duties and obligations as defined by State and National regulatory agencies and the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules and Regulations as delegated by the hospital's Board of Directors.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree related field and 5 years' experience in Medical Staff Services OR

  • Associate degree with 7 years’ experience of Medical Staff Services OR

  • High School diploma with 10 years’ experience of Medical Staff Services

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) - National Association Medical Staff Services.

Essential Functions

  • Initiates oversee, administer, verify, comply, manage, and maintain confidential research required for credentialing activities. Follows legal, State and Federal agency, State licensing board, The Joint Commission standards, and policies and procedures approved by the Medical Staff organization and the Board of Sharp HealthCare.Completes in a timely manner according to guidelines outlined in the Medical Staff Bylaws and Medical Staff policies and procedures.Prepares and reports all research and forwards to department chairpersons, Medical Staff committees and to the Board of Directors for review and action.Maintains documentation of The Joint Commission surveys.

  • Oversees and assures compliance of monthly committee, department, and Medical Staff meetings as addressed in the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules and Regulations. Assures coverage of meetings and provides guidance, resources and support to Medical Staff officers, committee and department chairpersons.Assures that appropriate agendas are developed after consultation with department chairpersons and officers.Oversees the dictation and preparation of accurate documentation of Medical Staff management and peer review monitoring activities following legal guidelines, The Joint Commission, and other federal and state requirements.Maintains documentation of all minutes for The Joint Commission surveys.Assures follow-up action is taken and prepares a monthly summary of all Medical Staff committees’ and departments’ activities and forwards to the Medical Executive Committee and to the Board of review and action.

  • Oversees, develops, and maintains an up-to-date computer program to record data for all currently approved appointees to be used for credentialing purposes and information needed for appropriate in-house departments .Assures data are entered into computer when new appointee has been approved by the Board of Directors.Reviews data and enters revised data every month to assure continued up-to-date information.Provides to all hospital departments after Board meeting names, telephone numbers, addresses, staff status, and additional necessary statistical data for new and current appointees. Approved privileges will be provided to appropriate clinical departments.

  • Improves professional growth, knowledge of job to maintain efficiency and effectiveness of the Medical Staff office by belonging to professional organization (NAMSS), attending local and national seminars approved by The Joint Commission, AMA, AHA, and other organizations addressing Medical Staff management activities, and subscribes and reads journals and publications addressing Medical Staff management activities. Provides professional guidance and administrative support to the Medical Staff.Establishes and supports yearly orientation programs for Medical Staff officers and department chairpersons regarding required duties to help them consistently perform their functions.Develops and coordinates new appointees’ orientation program.Monitors and stays current on Medical Staff Bylaws, credentials activities, and Medical Staff policies and procedures.Stays current on The Joint Commission guidelines addressing Medical Staff issues and requirements.Stays current and knowledgeable of legal requirements related to Medical Staff activities and contacts hospital legal counsel when necessary.Knowledge of Medical Staff management activities.Knowledgeable of state laws and federal requirements for reporting federally mandated requirements.Applies new knowledge during day-to-day activities performed in the Medical Staff office.Recommends to the Medical Executive Committee and administration changes in bylaws, credentialing forms, policies and procedures based upon research and knowledge or current requirements.

  • Provides ongoing direction and supervision of Medical Staff office personnel. Ensures adequate training and high-performance standards by both on-the-job training and through continuing education programs.Evaluates work performance on a regular basis by reviewing productivity and efficiency.Develops and updates departmental policies and procedures manual and job description yearly.Assures secretarial support is provided for all medical staff education activities and miscellaneous clerical duties.Provides positive leadership to personnel in department.Performs annual written evaluations and recommended merit increases.Hires, disciplines, counsel, and terminate employees when necessary.Approves leave requested and develops a plan to cover the usual workload when leave time is taken.

  • Administrative and Management Functions. Review and act upon recommendations received by The Joint Commission, risk management, legal, and other federal or state regulations and hospital Mission Statement.Researches and prepares operation, capital equipment and personnel budgets and forwards to Administration for approval by Board. Monitors expenses of the department to stay within approved budgets.
