[POSITION SUMMARY [This individual's work involves the application of technical knowledge in a medical filed for the purpose of examination and treatment of patients by the attending physician and for research. [An employee in this class selects equipment for use in ultrasound setups according to the patient, and instructs and assists patients in assuming physical position for required exposure to ultrasonic waves. *[POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES]{arial="" narrow",sans-serif"=""}]{arial="" narrow",sans-serif"=""}]{arial="" narrow",sans-serif"=""}]{arial="" narrow",sans-serif"=""}* 1. Performs ultrasound examinations, abdominal scans, retroperitoneal scans, obstetrics and gynecology scans, radiation therapy localization for treatment planning, and other anatomical areas as required, and minor surgical procedures. 2. Schedules cases to coordinate with other patient examinations; positions and transfers patients; lifts move and transport patients. 3. Selects proper technical factors on an individual [patient basis; selects and operates equipment as directed, develops film by automatic processing. Assists physician in administering medicines. 4. Maintains records of examination data and other pertinent information on patients. Consults with others to obtain a complete clinical history and gathers pertinent clinical data. 5. Secures and returns supplies as well as patient folders in order to insure proper maintenance. 6. Performs other duties as directed. [REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS ]{arial="" narrow",sans-serif"=""} 1. High school or equivalent plus completion of a full time training course for ultrasound technicians as approved by the American Medical Association and two years experience under the direction and supervision of a radiologist or other medical officer. 2. Professionally registered with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers. [REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES]{arial="" narrow",sans-serif"=""} Knowledge of equipment used in ultrasounds setups. Knowledge procedures used in performing ultra sound exams. Knowledge of the anatomy and anatomical relationships and cross sectional anatomy in all body plans. About to operate ultrasound diagnostic equipment. Ability to follow oral and written directions. Ability to relate with tact and understand to deal with parents, doctors, staff and all other persons contacted during the course of work. Ability to employ sound judgment in the planning and execution of assigned duties. Knowledge of the policies, procedures, rules and regulations that apply to the practice of in an inpatient care setting. Knowledge of hospital/departmental policies and procedures, emergency protocols, Joint Commission, Center for Medicare and Medicaid services and all other local and federal regulatory standards Ability to make presentations before management, public groups, and staff.
