What you will be doing

As a Database Administrator you will be responsible for deployment, migration, implementation, and administration of databases and support of all database environments and related applications on on-prem and Azure SQL Databases. Performs performance monitoring, security, troubleshooting, backups, error checks, and replication. Work directly with other teams to triage and troubleshoot on escalating issues. The role works on complex issues involving one or more technical areas, mentoring employees in database management and ensuring consistency and integration with existing database infrastructure. The role troubleshoots complex issues for all levels, analyzing data from various sources related to database structure and application to develop solutions that address problems or performance improvements. Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, maintain and patch SQL Servers

  • Manage SQL server databases, Azure SQL databases and Managed Instances

  • Backup and restore on-prem and Azure SQL databases, Managed Instances

  • Monitor SQL Agent jobs and respond to critical job notifications on failure

  • Troubleshoot and resolves problems with production systems; escalates issues and facilitates resolution

  • Automate common management tasks using PowerShell.

  • Evaluates data access and security to ensure that electronic data resources are available to those who need access and protected

  • Automates database Management tasks

  • Creating documentation and maintenance plans, assigning monitoring threshold values

  • Test backup/recovery, replication, failover, and disaster recovery

  • Works collaboratively with the application support and development team including architects, developers to ensure project success

  • Assists in project planning and management with clients and other staff members

  • Deploy new database and code per change requests

  • Provides troubleshooting and support including after-hours support

  • Other duties as assigned

How You’ll Succeed

  • Relationship Building – build strong relationships with business partners.

  • Hands On Database Management Skills - Develop technical specifications, high level/detailed design, testing strategies, and implementation plans from business requirements.

  • Collaboration - Partner with security, engineering and product teams to define database solutions to meet our customer needs.

Who you are

  • You can demonstrate experience by having 8+ years of relevant experience in SQL Database management. Experience with backup strategies, replication, and DR solutions for SQL is a must. Experience in monitoring and tuning MS SQL Server databases for optimum performance. Knowledge of indexes, index management, statistics, performance tuning.

  • You have 2-3 years experience working with major cloud vendors (Azure, AWS etc.).

  • Knowledge of Azure Data Lake/Data Factory/SQL Integration Services.

  • Knowledge of Postgres and Oracle is plus.

  • Microsoft Azure Certification.

  • Basic PowerShell knowledge or any other scripting language is a huge plus.

  • You are a strong problem solver , highly reliable, organized and able to work in a fast-paced environment with delivery focus and able to work individually and collaboratively with peers.

  • You are an excellent communicator who is comfortable engaging stakeholders, both verbally and written.

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or equivalent experience.
