Uber Safety & Insurance Litigation Paralegal in Chicago, Illinois

About the Role

The Safety & Insurance Litigation team oversees and manages litigation and claims arising out of Uber's insurance policies. In doing so, the team works hand in hand with our insurance partners and outside counsel to drive solutions and innovate. This innovative team also works across Uber's business teams, from operations to safety, to evaluate and manage risk. The team is currently searching for a Safety & Insurance Litigation Paralegal to provide crucial support to in-house attorneys. Do you want to bring your expertise to Uber?

What You'll Do

  • Prioritize and manage a high volume of matters and assist in all phases of the tort litigation lifecycle, including discovery, motion practice and trial/alternative dispute resolution in the US & Canada

  • Maintain and oversee case handling processes and procedures

  • Consult and assist attorneys on specific case needs

  • Review, categorize, organize, track and maintain information and legal documents within our matter management system

  • Analyze, issue spot and escalate inquiries and issues

  • Perform research, fact investigation and preservation functions

  • Support team projects, task forces and initiatives

  • Perform and analyze complex data analytics

  • Respond directly to requests from outside counsel, insurers and other stakeholders

  • Design, build and deliver engaging presentations for internal and external audiences

Basic Qualifications

  • A minimum of 4 years of paralegal experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • B.A./B.S. required, Paralegal certificate preferred (or as required by local rules)

  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills

  • Paralegal experience in either a defense firm or insurance company highly preferred

  • Paralegal certificate preferred (or as required by local rules)

  • Experience working in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment while handling a high volume caseload

  • E-Discovery and mass document production experience

  • Salesforce or other CRM/database experience

  • Data querying and SQL skills

  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Self-motivation and the ability to work both on a team and independently

  • Technical know-how with at least an intermediate level of computer skills, including a working knowledge of Google suite, Excel, Word, Adobe, Box, and other web-based applications

  • Hustle and passion for the work, a "can do attitude" and positive outlook

For Chicago, IL-based roles: The base hourly rate range for this role is USD$38.95 per hour - USD$43.28 per hour. You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
