What does a Network Technician do?

A Network Technician manages and troubleshoots an organization's computer networks, handling the installation of hardware like routers and switches, and configuring network software. They ensure network security, regularly monitor system performance, and swiftly resolve connectivity issues. Additionally, they provide technical support to users and maintain the network infrastructure, necessitating strong technical knowledge and problem-solving skills. Their role is crucial in various settings, from small businesses to large corporations.

How does the program work?

During your apprenticeship with Catalyte, you will develop and hone your foundational skills as a Network Technician under tutelage of experienced technicians. You will leverage your newly acquired skills to manage and maintain computer networks and provide consultative services for client companies.

Responsibilities

  • Configure and install networking and telecom equipment needed for the project

  • Documentation the telecom and network environments (ensure that all documentation is accurate and up to date)

  • Document issue resolution using the helpdesk ticketing system

  • Install and configure hardware and software

  • Maintain excellent communication with all end users and other members of the technology department

  • Assist other team members in executing various project tasks

  • Work with hardware break/fix vendor as needed

  • Execute other assigned tasks as delegated by the Customer, Project Manager and Team Lead

Qualifications

  • Be at least 18 years old

  • Have a high school diploma (10th grade or better ability in reading + math)

  • Basic proficiency using a computer and the internet

  • Be a U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S. for 30 continuous months. Catalyte does not offer visa assistance or sponsorship of any kind.
