Job Description

U.S. Bancorp Impact Finance (USBIF) provides tax credit investments, loans, and banking services to organizations and projects that support affordable housing, renewable energy, economic development, and job creation in communities across the country.

The Relationship Manager position is part of the Corporate Sales and Advisory (CSA) team within USBIF. Corporate Sales and Advisory provides banking products and services to our Affordable Housing, Environmental Finance, New Markets and Specialty Finance customers within USBIF.

The Relationship/Prospect Manager will report to the Managing Director of Corporate Sales and Advisory and work closely with staff across the team, USBIF and U.S. Bank. This position represents an exciting opportunity to be a key contributor to a growing business line within USBIF. Candidates will be able to combine their experience in banking and finance with a passion for impact investing and economic development across the country.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Prospect and source new bank business by connecting with USBIF product areas and managers to uncover opportunities to provide traditional bank products and services to new and existing customers.

  • Proactively identify and engage potential customers through various internal and external channels to foster new client relationships.

  • Advise on, market and make appropriate internal referrals for bank products and services, to prospects and existing customers, including payment systems, deposits, trust and custody, equipment leasing, trade and supply chain finance, working capital, loan capital markets, FX, and wealth management.

  • Attend and participate in multiple industry conferences to develop Center of Influence (COI) and increase market presence.

  • Coordinate with USBIF product areas, including CSA Deposit & Payment Solutions team, in relationship management of customers.

  • Prepare and deliver customized bank product presentations.

  • Prepare and deliver regular presentations/reports to management on portfolio and pipeline performance.

  • Underwrite a prospective borrower’s ability to repay loans/facilities with in-depth analysis of financial performance and credit quality, within assigned limits, as necessary.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree, or equivalent work experience

  • Seven to ten years of commercial lending experience

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Excellent oral and written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills including concise and insightful delivery.

  • Strong business development and relationship management experience and skills.

  • Proven success developing new business and COIs through active prospecting skills.

  • Ability to work independently and effectively collaborate with individuals and groups across the company to manage customer relationships.

  • Thorough understanding of a broad range of banking products and services.

  • Ability to independently service multiple clients and effectively manage multiple priorities.

  • Skilled in use of various software, prospecting and data tools, including Excel, Powerpoint Salesforce, nCino, Power B.I., Tableaux.

  • Demonstrated business acumen with knowledge of diverse types of businesses, industries, markets, financial and economic concepts.

  • Well-developed analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong commercial banking and lending/underwriting experience, including financial statement analysis skills.

Location Expectations

The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $116,280.00 - $136,800.00 - $150,480.00
