Job Summary:

Pratt & Whitney (P&W) Military Engines F135 Fleet Operations is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, self-starter with strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to represent the P&W Team at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, NC as a Field Service Engineer (FSE). This position is a customer facing role in a high visibility and part of a team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support F-35B/F-35C/F135 operations to include systems, tooling, material, and processes. The FSE will have hands-on interaction with the engine (software and hardware), aircraft, and unit personnel.

  • Ensure comprehensive reporting on support activities including aircraft and engine status, flight reports, operational data, engine configuration status and parts consumption.

  • Work closely with internal P&W teams (Customer Support Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Center, ALIS teams) to assist Fleet Readiness Center-East and at times may also be required to assist the Operational units assigned to MCAS Cherry Point also in troubleshooting and resolution of emerging customer issues and maintain flexibility to resolve constantly changing customer priorities.

  • Use self-initiative and judgment to identify problems, conduct investigations to determine root cause, and coordinate solutions between P&W, the Joint Strike Fighter Program Office, and Lockheed Martin. The FSE will be responsible for coordinating field issues with the local P&W team, Engineering, and Logistics Program Management.

  • Align with Environment, Health, and Safety (EH&S) requirements and participating in Customer Oriented Results and Excellence (CORE) initiatives.

  • This role supports both the Air Vehicle Depot and combat-coded Marine Corps Operational Squadrons at the site. Travel for extended periods of time to support USMC Operational deployments and detachments will be required. Domestic and international travel in support of Shipboard Operations will also be required as part of the team concept supporting the Operational Units on the base.

  • Must have the ability to rotate first and second shift schedules as required to meet customer support and team objectives.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree is required; an engineering or related technical field is preferred. Non-technical degrees will be considered if the candidate has appropriate / related experience.

  • A minimum of 8+ years of professional experience in engine/aircraft maintenance, logistics, and logistics support. This includes supply chain management and Support Equipment management.

  • Background in ITAR/ITC is desired for this assignment.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued secret security clearance is required. Candidates that have had a clearance that has recently lapsed (not more than 2 years), may apply for consideration.

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products, specifically Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

  • Experience on the F135 engine and associated programs to include Autonomic Logistics Information System (ALIS)/OBPHM.

  • Knowledge of turbine engine theory and operation.

  • Familiarity of USMC aviation operations/structure.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
