University of Virginia Director, Rehabilitation Services in Charlottesville, Virginia

GENERAL SUMMARY: The Director, Rehabilitation Services directs the day-to-day operations of Outpatient Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology and inclusive of other therapy services as deemed necessary by the director and CCO. Responsibilities include effective resource utilization, and program and policy development implementation and evaluation. As a member of the Health System leadership team the individual demonstrates clinical expertise and will be involved in continuous quality improvement, customer service resource, financial management efficiency, effective system processes and professional development.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct strategic planning and management of OT PT and SLP to position these service lines for continued growth and success.

  • Identify and foster the passion of each therapist while growing programs which simultaneously compliment their professional goals, the needs of the community and the needs of the referring physicians. The Director will have autonomy over staffing decisions.

  • Spearhead growth within the community and establish the therapy brand as a center of excellence. Provide access to appointments across all therapies within 72 hours of referral and ensure superior care will be provided for the entire course of treatment.

  • Lead efforts to Improve Patient Safety throughout the Organization. Actively participate in broad institutional initiatives such as: New Employee Orientation; Resident and Fellow Training; Be Safe initiatives; employee engagement sessions; etc as a way to better share information about Therapy Services.

  • Ensure regulatory compliance in the therapies and establish documentation review procedures.

  • Analyze and improve billing efficiency and RCM. Implement changes and/or corrective actions as needed to remain compliant with industry and governmental standards.

  • Continued collaboration with Therapy Services clinical partners (other Directors, Physician Partners and Administrators) to facilitate program improvements in patient access, patient compliance and program diversity (new programs specific to physician requests) Stay current with the state of the art in OT PT SLP.

  • Implement evidence based leading edge programs services and technologies at UVA as indicated. The director will foster relationships with referral sources and listen to input regarding necessary program development. The director will have input and oversight regarding such development, its necessary staffing, training and equipment requirements.

  • Provide administrative oversight of clinical staff and operations. Develop operational and capital budgets for OT PT SLP, etc.

  • Studies Policy and procedure oversight guidance and approval Supervise OT/PT/SLP Managers and OT/PT/SLP Therapy Services Coordinator.

  • Serve as mentor to direct and subordinate reports.

  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities) :

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy Occupational Therapy or Speech Language Pathology or Business Required.

Experience:

  • 5 years of Management Experience Other Skills Possesses well developed written and oral skills. Possesses personal qualities of integrity maturity and flexibility coupled with high energy tenacity and resourcefulness.

Licensure:

  • Virginia State license in corresponding specialty required

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position serves in a leadership capacity and may provide supervision, guidance, direction, training and support to other team members.

WORKING CONDITIONS: This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
