University of Virginia Billing Quality Educator in Charlottesville, Virginia

The Billing Quality Educator is responsible for providing healthcare consulting services to physicians, residents, allied health professionals and billing staff to support patient care documentation, coding and billing practices according to federal, state and local regulatory compliance standards.

  • Collaborates at all levels to resolve billing and documentation issues and uses external resources and professional judgment to resolve issues that are not clearly defined.

  • Develops training programs and delivers training and education sessions for physicians, allied health professionals, residents, and coding and billing staff to support compliance with third party documentation and billing regulatory standards, including but not limited to classroom training, web-based training and one-on-one provider observation and training sessions.

  • Participates on clinical department Billing Quality Councils as a member of the respective councils and acts as the primary resource providing technical and regulatory expertise to the Councils.

  • Presents findings and recommendations from internal and external audits to clinical departments and recommends solutions for implementing appropriate changes.

  • Conducts internal reviews and provides quality review of external billing quality audits.

  • Works with providers and department billing staff to address and resolve documentation deficiencies.

  • Develops and implements Clinical Documentation Improvement Programs in partnership with the clinical departments.

  • Serves on various Health System committees and teams as assigned to represent the interests of the UVA Physicians Group and its healthcare providers.

  • Creates and delivers presentations to clinical faculty and billing staff.

  • Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Position Compensation Range: $54,558.40 - $87,297.60 Annual

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:

Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.

Experience:

Five years related work experience

Licensure:

CCS-P or CPC certification

Skills:

Demonstrated analytical and research experience

Basic knowledge of and experience utilizing a personal computer

Intermediate word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and database software skills required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
