Robert Half Accounts Receivable Specialist in Charlottesville, Virginia

Description We are offering a long-term employment opportunity for an Accounts Receivable Specialist in the bustling city of Charlottesville, Virginia. As part of our team, you will play a key role in maintaining, analyzing and reconciling accounts receivable, ensuring accurate monthly payroll processing, and adhering to government standards.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare, post, verify, and record customer payments and transactions related to accounts receivable • Draft correspondence for standard past-due accounts and collections, identify delinquent accounts by reviewing files, and contact delinquent account holders to request payment • Create reports regarding the current status of customer accounts as requested • Conduct research into customer discrepancies and past-due amounts, and respond to customer inquiries • Identify and recommend updates to payroll accounting software, systems, and procedures • Coordinate with HR and Assistant Controller to implement, maintain, and review monthly payroll processing to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions, including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end payroll statements • Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll transactions to the general ledger • Generate payroll-related data for budgeting and forecasting purposes • Respond to employee and contractor inquiries on all payroll-related matters • Manage ad-hoc accounting projects as necessary • Cash Collections, Collections, Post Payments, and Research Discrepancies. Requirements • Proficiency in Cash Collections operations and practices

• Demonstrated experience in Collections, with a focus on maintaining customer relationships

• Ability to accurately Post Payments in a timely manner

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to Research Discrepancies in accounts receivable records

• Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

• Advanced knowledge of relevant software tools and platforms

• Demonstrable attention to detail and accuracy in work

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred

• Relevant detail oriented certification, such as Certified Accounts Receivable Specialist, is a plus.
