Wells Fargo Sr. Financial Accountant - ABUS Team in CHARLOTTE, North Carolina

About this role:

The Accounting Business Unit Support (ABUS) group in the Controller's Division is seeking a highly motivated Senior Financial Accountant with strong accounting and analytical experience to join our high performing team. This individual will perform work supporting accounting functions and SEC and regulatory reporting requirements, as well as all related internal control activities.

In this role, you will:

  • Act as Senior Consultant for financial accounting related matters for lines of business and other control functions

  • Provide technical expertise regarding accounting issues, regulatory reporting requirements/matters and research; support line of business functions (front office, operations, system/data owners) on major transactions and new product development

  • Provide data submissions for financial and regulatory reports; design and implement control activities over the end-to-end reporting process; prepare/review variance analyses and contribute to disposition of questions / issues

  • Partner with line of business control executive function to help communicate best practices and procedures to comply with the company's internal control policies as it relates to accounting/reporting processes

  • Understand accounting and reporting policies and the impact of accounting/reporting policy changes on business groups or organization

  • Apply extensive specialized product and/or accounting and reporting knowledge and act as an internal consultant or final authority in area of expertise

  • Provide technical interpretation/guidance on matters; act as liaison between business and corporate accounting functions, serving as a key change agent in building and adopting best practices within the functional area

  • Lead implementation of complex projects and initiatives impacting one or more lines of business

  • Identify compliance and risk management requirements for supported area and may support implementation of key risk initiatives

  • Communicate and provide consultation regularly with more experienced stakeholders throughout the enterprise

  • Provide support to internal audit and second line of defense testing engagements in areas of responsibility; maintain up to date / accurate control documentation

Required Qualifications:

4+ years of Finance, Accounting, Analytics, Financial Reporting, Accounting Reporting or Risk Reporting experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • A BS/BA degree or higher in one or a combination of the following: Finance, Accounting, Analytics

  • Ability to manage effectively in a matrixed organization

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and/or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)

  • Strong accounting skills

  • Experience working with Alteryx or other process automation tools

  • Ability to identify and present processes/operational enhancements

  • Ability to articulate issues, risks, and proposed solutions to various levels of staff and management

  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy

  • Virtual leadership experience with the ability to effectively drive results, provide feedback/direction, and build relationships with leaders and team members in a geographically dispersed team environment

  • Advanced Microsoft Office Skills (Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Knowledge of analytical tools (SQL, Tableau)

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to influence, partner, and negotiate with individuals to gain commitment to accomplish business goals

  • A solid understanding of the accounting, reporting, and internal control issues facing large, diversified US financial services institutions

  • Participation in an industry group or organization that aligns with Wells Fargo's support of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
