Element Materials Technology Chemist in Charlotte, North Carolina
Overview
Element has an opportunity for a Chemist who will be primarily responsible for performing analytical analysis of various metal alloys, to determine conformance to governing specifications
This is a 2nd shift position: 11am - 7:30pm M-F
Responsibilities
Operate analytical laboratory equipment to determine composition of various metallic alloys
Report abnormal findings to laboratory management and perform preventive measures to prevent downtime of power and desalination systems
Maintain accurate and legible records of technical work and maintain equipment according to schedule
Assist with testing/ analysis of non-routine samples as directed
Maintain laboratory equipment
Skills / Qualifications
Bachelor's in Chemistry Required
Familiarity with analytical techniques such as Optical Emission Spectroscopy (OES), Inert Gas Fusion (IGF), and Inductively-coupled plasma (ICP)
Minimum 3 yrs experience working in a lab setting as a Chemist
Awareness of health and safety procedures and safe systems of work required to perform duties
Strong and determined quality focus with indefatigable determination to get the job done under the most challenging conditions
Exceptional communication skills and good reporting skills
