Spaulding Rehabilitation Sr Clinical Research Coordinator in Charlestown, Massachusetts

Sr Clinical Research Coordinator - ( 3276522 )

Description

Sr. Research Coordinator

Spaulding Neurorehabilitation Laboratory

About Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital and the Spaulding Neurorehabilitation Laboratory:

Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital (SRH) exists within the framework of the Mass General Brigham Health System (MGB) and Harvard Medical School (HMS). MGB is among the largest academic health systems in the nation and is the only health system with three institutions ranked in the Top-20 Best Hospitals by U.S. News and World Report (Massachusetts General Hospital [MGH], Brigham and Women’s Hospital [BWH] and SRH). SRH is the flagship inpatient rehabilitation hospital for MGB and the primary teaching hospital of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation program at HMS.

The mission of the Spaulding Neurorehabilitation Laboratory (SNL), directed by Dr. Joseph T. Giacino, Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Harvard Medical School, is to improve the precision of diagnostic and prognostic assessment methods, develop more effective treatment interventions and improve quality of life for persons with acquired brain injury. Areas of focus include instrument development, novel approaches to multidimensional outcome assessment, neuromodulation and knowledge translation. SNL staff have produced widely-recognized assessment tools such as the Coma Recovery Scale-Revised (available in 16 languages) and have led large multicenter clinical trials, including the only TBI randomized controlled drug trial (i.e., amantadine hydrochloride) that accelerated the pace of recovery following severe TBI.

The SNL serves as the base of operations for the Spaulding-Harvard Traumatic Brain Injury Model System (SH-TBIMS), one of 16 centers in the U.S. funded by the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR) to conduct longitudinal follow-up of persons with moderate to severe TBI. The TBI Model Systems Program is the largest and longest-running longitudinal study of TBI in the world with over 17,000 persons enrolled over the last 30 years. The SNL also co-leads the Outcomes Core for the nation’s largest prospective study of TBI, “Transforming Research and Clinical Knowledge in Traumatic Brain Injury (TRACK-TBI)” (https://tracktbi.ucsf.edu). Supported by the Department of Defense (DoD), National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Football League (NFL), philanthropic organizations, and private biopharma companies, this 28-site network aims to identify TBI “phenotypes” using clinical, neuroimaging and biomarker data. This improved classification system will facilitate sample enrichment and is expected to accelerate the development of effective TBI treatment interventions. The SNL also has a long tradition of involvement in national advocacy efforts intended to promote equitable delivery of health services to vulnerable populations.

Position Summary SRH is recruiting an experienced and highly-motivated individual with strong research management skills to serve as a Sr. Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) in the SRH Neurorehabilitation Laboratory. The Sr. CRC will be primarily responsible for coordination and oversight of a federally-funded grant entitled, "Participatory Community Integration for Traumatic Brain Injury Survivors: Development of a Computer Adaptive Test." The primary aim of this project is to develop a psychometrically-based computer adaptive test (CAT) to assess key domains that impact social participation of persons following TBI. The Sr. CRC will work under the supervision of the Project Director and Program Manager and will communicate with project officers from the National Institute on Disability Independent Living and Rehabilitation Research. The Sr. CRC may also assist with other projects in our large portfolio of multi-site clinical trials and observational studies addressing brain injury and neurorehabilitation.
