ABOUT THE ROLE:

Holcim Us, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for a Mechanic/Utility Operator to support operations at Rockville Quarry in Rockville, Maryland. This position will be responsible for the diagnosis, repair and maintenance of a wide variety of fixed electrical equipment, mechanical equipment, systems and machinery. Operating and configuring multiple equipment while ensuring that the machines works at its full capacity. Overseeing equipment/machine maintenance, and perform timely quality checks.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

  • Clean assigned areas inside and outside of the plant, repairing maintenance tools, performing basic landscaping duties, and inspecting utility projects.

  • Maintain stock levels and comply with state health and safety regulations.

  • Operates a variety of heavy and light equipment and machines to create finished products.

  • Feed materials into machines, and transfer material from one location to another.

  • Conducts pre and post-trip inspections, identifying malfunctions and items in need of repair.

  • Perform light maintenance on electrical, pneumatic or hydraulic systems.

  • Prior to undertaking any diagnosis or repair, conducts a job safety analysis to identify and isolate any hazards such as energy (lock-out-tag-out, try-out), working at heights, confined spaces, and mobile equipment.

  • Prepares Plant reports as required and maintain an inventory of regularly used repair supplies or equipment.

  • Assists personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.

  • Responds to emergency situations as needed and/or assigned for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.

  • Attends and participates in safety toolbox talks, and other employee meetings/events.

  • Reports near misses or other safety incidents or accidents promptly, and in accordance with proper procedures.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent

  • Required Work Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years exepreince to all related work

  • Mechanical skills, physical strength, practical skills, problem solving orientation, and customer service abilities.

  • Proficient in hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic systems

  • ASE ceritfiication (Preferrred)

  • Diesel Mechanic Certification

  • DOT certtified (Preferred)

  • Excellent oral communication skills with close attention to detail

  • Required Computer and Software Skills:Basic computer skills

  • Ability to work in all weather conditions without limitations.

  • Ability to lift 50lbs

  • Reliable transportation

  • Licenses Required: Valid Driving License

  • Good Driving Record

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
